Great beach overlook from the lighthouse. We were there in July so a few surfers out but not surfing season. I could have stayed there all morning watching the pelicans dive for fish. The lighthouse/beach overlook is probably a busy spot during the season as there was a restaurant/snack bar there (closed for the season?) and we were able to sit on stools overlooking the water.

Domes Beach is one of my favorite beaches in western PR to visit. I’m not a surfer, but it’s a beautiful beach to watch the surf, grab a drink and an empanada at the snack shack and sit in the sun beneath a palm tree. This is not a beach to swim at-you risk cutting up your feet on jagged, slippery rock and rip tides. Surfers ONLY! But it’s a nice beach to collect small shells and sea glass which are hard to come by on most PR beaches it seems!
Restrooms are available. This time visiting we did notice a few homeless tents set up along the edge of the beach which hadn’t been there last time.
Walking path and lookout well maintained and clean.

A great wave beach, but, as others said, watch for rocks and sharpness at the shore.
We took surfing lessons here, and the guide was patient and lovely, but they had had a storm a couple of days prior and the sea was brown/green and cloudy, not blue. He said it was normally quite clear. We also did not have the waves he expected or wanted. For a beginner, that was fine. But you could tell he was a bit disappointed in wave quality. But the main thing is that the rocks on shore were a bit of a challenge to navigate carrying a board into the water. And if we did wipe out close to shore then we got a few scrapes on our feet from the rocks.

We were just in Rincon and my husband is an avid surfer who wanted to go to DOMES surf beach. It is a bit difficult to find unless you're looking for a big green dome (former Nuclear plant which was never activated.) Go early if you want a good spot underneath shady trees...this is a very popular and crowded beach on a good surf day. This is not a beach for swimmers. Lots of rocks and sea urchins. You must go down a steep driveway to park and exiting back up the driveway can be a bit treacherous. No bathrooms or facilties...bring bug spray and water/snacks. Overall, the view was fantastic...I'd recommed it for a young crowd.

Went on a windy day and we walked around and enjoyed the gorgeous views. We decided to dip our feet but that’s about it. However a friend of ours decided to swim some and he was pulled towards rocks within minutes. It was scary. He managed to hold and climb up the rocks until some locals helped him get up and out of that. He got a few scratches and bruising but luckily didn’t hurt his head or require stitches. Do not try to swim. This is not the place for that. We were so shook up.

Some Localism terrible...bad for business. I'm fully Puerto Rican born and raised and one of my buckets list was to ride domes beach in Rincon. The first locals were great they tell you and help you where to go in but once in the water another story. I understand water safety above first all but it is the approach on how you talk to people. The first locals were great. The second( local) one in the water not so much...like he owed the beach. Everyone in the water looks the same until you come out:) I cant and wont judge everyone for one bad incident but lets just say that little midget with the hat in the water that was talking that mess he was lucky I was dealing with a serious personal issue because I was going to use all my 6ft 5 250 on him. I had family with me also:). Guys put people aside and tell them...por ahi si...por ahi no..hermano echate para un lado..o sabes que te recomiedo otra playa...all good and understandable. You saving lives doing that... I respect that..but all that cursing with elderly, kids and families around. Help people in the water man. It wasn't like a Kelly Slater or Mike Stewart was in the water or anything like that. It was people having fun. It will better for the sport and the economy. As some of you make a living doing this. Ah yes once outside the water he didn't say a word anymore:) but I love my country sooo much i let it slide. Beautiful city and place. 5 stars on that.

Went during the week which was nice not crowded. Beach was very nice water was perfect temp you can just go right in. A little rocky in parts so try to be careful especially with the waves. But well worth the drive from San Juan I will definitely go back next time im in PR.

At least in winter this is a better surfing than swimming beach. Depending on surf there can be some shade along the shore.

Dome's beach has been a famous surfing spot for years.
Those who remember the 70's still remember that famous festival Mar y Sol (almost a Puerto Rican Woodstock!).
Free parking.
Great to watch sunset, take pictures of surfers.
But the great story is not the beach but the urban legends about the Dome. The Bonus nuclear plant was forced to the Puerto Rico people during the 60's because no other state would allow it. To this date, nobody really know what really was tested there. Local divers have a lot of strange stories..

Beautiful beach and probably the best for surfer watching in Rincon. Great if you are an intermediate to advanced surfer. Lovely sunsets too.
