Fantastic coaches and Travis was so good to us. Our girls surf some, we loved the instruction BEFORE headed into the water, and while in the water. Safety makes for the best experience.
One of our girls surfs well enough, the other is really green and said she didn't like surfing, until today! She had such a comfortable, safe, secure, fun time she wants her own board!
The coaches were so attentive, exciting, fun, and paid close attention to each kid in the line up.
If you want perfectly a booked, timed and technologically advanced experience, well, the mainland may be a better option... We are on island, be patient folks!
I highly recommend these guys. The little from school they have was awesome also! So, that said, we would return here in a heart beat, and recommend it to all friends who want a safe, real fun surf experience cor their kids!

I celebrated my birthday by taking surfing lessons from John and Ari with some family members. I highly recommend this activity. We had full faith in our teachers, which is important out there. I also recommend getting your swimming muscles in shape before you go! (Arms and shoulders). There is nothing like the feeling when the back of the board tips up and you are on your way flying over the water!

Excellent experience! Booked them this past February for my teenage son, he progressed a lot with John Barry. My daughter (12) and younger son (11) saw him having son much fun they wanted lessons also. So, we came back to Rincon last week (end of April) and booked a family lesson (including me 46, never surfed) with Nego and Uco. We enjoyed and progressed so much we repeated the next day! They were very professional, fun, knowledgable always paying attention to safety and accommodating to all our skill levels.
We surfed at Domes, the waves were small, other schools had other groups in lessons and according to my wife (stayed at shore taking pictures) we were the most improved group. For sure it had to do with Nego and Uco, LOL

Nego (Angel) is the freakin best!!! Everyone there is super helpful and just all around good vibes. But surfing with Nego was top notch- helps that he’s a local ;) He’s honest, even when it’s not what you want to hear lol. He made my trip! Highly recommend. Only reason it’s not 5 stars is I did get a photo package and the pictures weren’t the best for what I paid, but I know it’s hard to keep your eye on one person when there are so many out there. All around GREAT experience. Ask for Nego!

We decided on Sunday afternoon that we wanted to take surf lessons on Monday, our last day in Rincon. We called and they got us in for 8am with Brandon. He was great! We had never surfed before, and he was incredibly patient, gave us great tips, and didn't make me feel bad when I completely wiped out. It was nice to learn from someone who grew up in the area and had such an appreciation for surfing and the ocean. We can't wait to try surfing again, hopefully back in Rincon. Thanks Brandon and Rincon Surf School!

I'm generally not one to write reviews - but these folks are most deserving. Our trip with Rincon Surf School happened very last minute (like a day before), when we ran into a passport issue. I searched from my phone, found the school, reached the owner, Travis, and within 10 minutes we were booked with daily surf instruction for my boys, quality lodging and key info. I work in travel myself and was impressed to see how quickly he was able to set everything up for us - and all surpassed our needs for a guys surf trip. I was traveling with my two young sons and the trip priority was to get them feeling comfortable in the waves, gaining confidence in their surfing and progressing, if possible. And Rincon Surf School succeeded on every point. My boys lucked out and got to surf with John B. for 4 straight days and he is so amazing with kids - very laid back, patient and makes it all fun for them. To see my boys quickly progress, and having a blast doing it, made me a proud dad . My youngest even came back with a new surfing nickname, which I think was his favorite souvenir. In summary, these guys ROCK and don't hesitate in booking with them! We will be returning to surf with them soon.

As an experienced surfer with limited experience in Rincon, I wanted to grab some local knowledge as well as get my wife a chance for some beginner surf. I am really glad I contacted these guys. They gave her the surf experience of a lifetime, her confidence coming back to our local break is going to be through the roof! If your an experienced surfer traveling with less experienced surfers or people looking to try surfing, I highly recommend reaching out as they are able to cater to all ability levels and can help you navigate the local line up while giving your friends and family their first proper surfing experience! Even had I not needed a beginner lesson I would still recommend reaching out prior to your trip to get the local intel on smooth travel experience, where to surf, where to grab boards, where to stay, the guys have it dialed.

My husband daughter and I just had our first vacation and surf lessons in Rincon. I would highly recommend using Rincon Surf School. Everyone we interacted with was amazing. Our lesson was with Angel and I cant recommend him enough. We felt safe and very well informed being first timers. Angel was wonderful and made sure we all caught waves. Each run he critiqued and gave feedback at what to change to give us our best chance at catching the waves. Angel will work with you until you get up on board. Very patient and super nice! Everyone at the Rincon Surf School were extremely nice and encouraging. Whether it's your first time surfing or a seasoned surfer, Rincon Surf School has something for you.

RSS rules! Travis got us oriented to the surf school process and took the time to understand what each of us beginner surfers (me, and my teenage son and daughter) were looking to get out of the experience - and then he totally delivered. We had 3 days, and each day's instruction was crafted with skills progression in mind, while moving at a pace that was comfortable for each of us. Alex kept the communication and scheduling running smoothly. Love Rincon and would work with RSS again in a second! Highly recommended!

Best day of my life! I always dreamt of surfing. The coach, Lucas, just made my dream came true. I rode some waves and was able to stay on the board for over 10 seconds my first time surfing. That’s the best feeling ever! I didn’t know that I can do this. Our coach Lucas is the best of the BEST! He is very patient, fun, knows my comfort and limit and keep me feel safe as a beginner! He is encouraging and keep pushing my limits while making sure I’m safe in the water. He gave effective and clear tips for me to learn surf. He guided me every step of the way. I was panic at the beginning but he calmed me down. Without him, I would not be able to ride those waves. I love surfing so much. Will definitely come back!!! The money was well spent. Highly recommended.

Hi, we were there with 3 kids, one is 20, one 11 and one 123: all 3 of them had a wonderful time, and were able to surf after only a few minutes of class (as opposed to the adults...). The teachers were amazing with the kids and their age is perfect.

I will be in San Juan in 2 weeks. How are the conditions of the area in Rincon since the storm? Would it be safe to travel to Rincon from San Juan? (Are the roads good?) . Also, do you have make reservations for surf school?

We were there at the end of March. The drive from San Juan was fine, and all the hotels and restaurants seemed to be up and running. I would recommend calling the Rincon Surf School to plan your visit. They can tell you about expected surf conditions, as well as make a reservation.

My wife and I stayed there just before it opened. Full disclosure: Travis and Lucas are our sons. The rooms have all been painted and refurbished and are beautiful. The balcony views are wonderful and the pool is inviting. It is a very quiet location but easily accessible to local restaurants and services. Their is a kitchenette in each unit but no cooking facility except in the third floor suite.
We sat on the balcony overlooking the Caribbean each day and enjoyed the cocktail hour before going to dinner.

Is this area a good place for a family beach vacation? Only our 14 year old daughter is interested in surf lessons. We, her parents, would just like to take it easy. Also, is the 2nd week of March good weather for surfing? Thanks.

It is not a great area for hanging out at the beach. Good for water sports and not for going with kids. Not a luxurious upscale area.
