- barrossaGosport, United Kingdom100 contributionsMorning walk.Had a couple of nice walks around the ponds. Bit muddy in March and the Lilly’s were still hibernating. Took about an hour setting off from the beach and returning to it. Took in the veins from the high points and crossed both bridges.Visited March 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten March 19, 2024
- pesue1Nuneaton, United Kingdom653 contributionsBeautifulLove coming here, there is a national trust carpark and then stunning walks around the lakes, there are several walks to different locations but all are not easy for people with mobility problems. The walks end at broadhaven beach. If you can time your trip to when the lillies are out it is stunning. Well worth a visitVisited May 2024Traveled with friendsWritten May 3, 2024
- DebsTrowbridge, United Kingdom18 contributionsLovely WalkA lovely 3 mile walk around the ponds to the beach and back. Pathway could be uneven in places, would recommend you wear trainers - a few tree roots, steps and large stones to navigate. But beautiful with the lily’s open. Saw swans and an otter.Visited June 2024Traveled as a coupleWritten June 15, 2024
- June ASurrey, United Kingdom2,754 contributionsA wonderful day outThis was definitely a highlight of my trip to Pembrokeshire. As its national trust parking is free for members - not sure of the cost otherwise. There are many different routes that ultimately all lead to the same place and the scenery and views in the summer sunshine are just sublime. Walking across the bridge past the river I came across a group of walkers watching an otter swimming up and down - a beautiful sight. I have never seen one in the wild before. The ponds themselves are beautiful with a narrow walkway from one side to the other and then a walk through the woods. All in all a wonderful day out.Visited July 2023Traveled soloWritten June 29, 2024
- Jane S10 contributionsSimply stunningSuch a beautiful place. The lilies are just starting to burst into spectacular bloom. An easy, mostly flat walk around the ponds and can head on to Broad Haven beach or Barafunle beach or to Stackpole Walled Gardens for a delicious coffee & cake (or all 3 if you're able).Visited June 2024Traveled with familyWritten July 1, 2024
- emily2709Bury, United Kingdom1,522 contributionsSurely unique and beautiful experienceThis is a beautiful walk through woodland that is adjacent to some man made ponds full of lily pads and wildlife with some lovely wooden and stone bridges. We started at the car park in Bosherton and ended at Broad Haven South Beach, which is the loveliest and cleanest beach I’ve ever seen with perfectly clear waters. With a toddler the walk took us 45 minutes each way, but it isn’t a long walk and she could do the walk without being carried much.Visited August 2024Traveled with familyWritten August 22, 2024

Never been here before so didn’t know what to expect. We got to the car park before 10am and there were only about a dozen cars. Car parking is free for NT members and a modest £3 or £4 for non members. It’s a great walk round the lily ponds themselves and although only a few were still in flower it was still really stunning with some great bridges to walk across. The secret beach was such a surprise as it was just lovely and we walked across some of the coastal headland. You can walk as little or as far as you want based on the different routes. After a few hours we got back to the car park and it was packed with parking all up the road as well. This really was an enjoyable visit to a special place.

Lovely walk around the lily ponds leading down to a beautiful beach. The one way system (to aid social distancing) didn't seem to be in operation, a shame as it worked really well last time we visited (maybe not being used because the way back is rather difficult terrain if you are not fleet of foot)
Decent toilets in the car park. No facilities on the beach, but that's part of it's charm. Totally unspoilt
I would definitely recommend this if you enjoy walking and appreciate beautiful scenery

A pleasant stroll around these ponds though at this time of year the lilies were more or less over. Don’t just drive and park in the NT carpark…… instead park for free at St Govan’s Head and walk the coast path to the ponds - a fabulous hike. Great cafe in Bosherston (Olde Worlde Cafe) will provide you with refreshment in the middle of your hike.

Me and my husband decided to walk around the lily ponds today, we walked for about 3 hours and still didn't manage the whole thing. It was so long, but so much to take photos of.
The only downside was the car park, it was either free for members (which is fair enough) or ÂŁ6 for 3 hours and they don't take card, one of the few car parks that don't. So make sure you have spare change.

Love the Bosherston lily ponds. Suitable for all ages. We paid £3 for 3 hours or I think it’s £6 all day. I love that you can extend the walk or do the minimum loop around. We did the extension up the hill overlooking the beach this time. There is a cafe just past the car park entrance, perfect pit stop after the walk - although a little pricey. 3 hours is enough if you are not stopping at the beach for the day. Get to car park early!!

There is no phone signal to use the pay by phone app, and no card machine - you need cash. This is obviously a big issue as the surrounding roads become full of cars unable to park. The lakes are lovely and you can extend the walk to many beaches and cliff tops if you wish- a really lovely spot.

We visit the Lily Ponds at Bosherston every year as part of our holiday, and every year we find some extra aspect to love. As part of the Stackpole Estate, the Lily Ponds are so beautiful and tranquil, with lots of wildlife to see and to be surprised by. This year we saw the Otter family playing in the Ponds, and then high up in the trees on the far side of the river we saw a heron's nest with two young herons being fed by their parents - absolutely astounding! We walked to Stackpole Quay from the ponds to the cafe and had tea overlooking the beach, watching a family of kayakers in the water. The whole experience at Stackpole and Bosherston Lily Ponds is glorious - don't miss it!

Started this visit in the rain, but it didn’t dampen our spirits. The walk past the Lily ponds was nice, plenty of wildlife on display including a really close encounter with a heron eating a fish as we walked past it. There’s a viewpoint which makes the visit worthwhile on its own.
Halfway round the walk is Broadhaven beach which is beautiful, highly recommended, we saw lots of fish in the stream running into the sea from the ponds.
Easy to find and well signposted mean it’s popular, but it was quiet due to the rain. The sun came out later on and it started to get busier. Loved it.

These ponds are a real haven for wildlife. This time of year the water fowl are raising their chicks..... one family of swans was often glimpsed with their giant cygnets, sheltering under the eight arch bridge. Coots, gadwall and mallard also seen with young. There's a handy hide... originally built for shooting purposes... in which to perch and watch. The lily pads themselves are wonderful, bloom, providing a carpet for the coots to wander across. Look out for the otters that have have made this their home.

I would like to repeat a walk to barafundle bay, through the lily ponds, which took me over a one handled bridge and through a forest. Can anyone tell me where is best to park please?
Written August 4, 2019
Use the Lily Ponds NT park in Bosherston. There is a map of the footpaths.
When you walk down the slope to the water, take the left side.
Have a lovely time.

If we want to visit the lily ponds broad haven beach and barafundle bay which car park are we best using? I have two children 5 and 7 who are pretty good at walking long distances but would visiting all 3 of these places in one go be too much perhaps?
Written July 27, 2019
All three would be a bit of a rush.
I suggest you might want to spend plenty of time on Broad Haven, so park at the Lily Ponds and walk down the right side, Or park at Trevalen and walk straight down.
The best car park for Barafundle is Stackpole Quay.
While in the area, try St Govans Chapel and the Stack Rocks.
Tea at the cafe in Bosherston is essential!

Should the Lillies be out in early June?
Written May 10, 2019
As long as this current sunny warm weather is maintained we should be seeing plenty of flowering lilies in June. Fingers crossed

I can't tell you for sure but there were still plenty of buds to come out when we were there a couple of weeks ago.

Not sure as we were last there in May. Maybe you could phone the NT Stackpole Information Centre to ask.

SA71 5DQ. This is the postcode on the website for the lily ponds, which I used myself today. It took me right to the car park for the lily ponds. Very easy and problem free.

Can we go there with a pushchair? We got small children in our group and need to know before we plan our visit.
Thanks
