I warmly recommend everything to do a mangrove boat tour with Kokopelli. The communication was super easy with the owner and she was able to arrange everything the same day on short notice.
Our expectations were exceeded. We saw so many different animals and our tour guide was so knowledgeable and one of a kind. He treated us with different jungle fruits, explained a lot about fora and founa. We even got some refreshments. It was just amazing! :)
Thank you Kokopelli for the great experience and the unforgettable memories you created for us :)
Pura Vida!

You will definitely see macaws, monkeys, caimans, and more. The tour is a couple of hours up the Sierpe river. Our guide Kenner was knowledgeable and fun and you could tell he really loves his work. We saw three types of monkeys, caimans, scarlet macaws, and many other types of flora and fauna. Super fun. Easy trip for all ages.

Wonderful! Tour from Drake bay needed more people but Kokopelli did a private tour with just me, a guide and a guide in training. Got to eat swamp cashew, ice cream bean, and hold a green parrot snake. I learnt about flora and fauna of swamp and took some good pix. Saw troop of squirrel monkeys gather round to scold a spectacled cayman at waters edge. Lots of great birds tseen eg roadside hawk, boat bill, some king fishers...
Guide pointed out fishing bats that are dark grey under concrete bridge but when sleeping in long lines on a tree are beige and brown to blend in with trunk.
When I got stranded at the Archaeology Museum 10 km out of town (they only take credit cards) I called Kokopelli . My guide Kenner came out to get me and drove me back to Sierpe dock no charge.
Recommended.

This tour was one of the 3 top highlights of our holiday in Costa Rica. The guide and boat operator took their time and were expert in locating wildlife I never would have seen on my own.

They are environmentally conscious and friendly. Our guide saw a child who had been obviously told to dump about 20 small plastic bags containing garbage into the river. He stopped and retrieved the bags while calmly and respectfully advising the child as to why what he was doing was wrong.

We saw a wide variety of mammals, reptiles, birds and natural structures. They were in the water, the trees, the land and the sky. I took approx 120 photos.

When I go back to Costa Rica I will do the tour again because it is impactful and never grows old. It may not change your life but it will give you a memory that you will not forget and who knows, maybe it will change your life.

Wonderful outing with an excellent guide, Josue and captain Johan. We were a party of 6 and they accommodated my wife in a wheelchair very easily on the pontoon boat. The staff made every effort to make us comfortable, Josue was a wealth of information and Johan was very good at maneuvering the boat so we could all get a glimpse of the wildlife. We saw many birds (blue and white herons, macaws), howler monkeys, white faced monkeys, and a small crocodile. In addition Josue was very informative about the regional environment. It was a great way to learn more about this wonderful country.

Our group of four had a great experience with Kokopelli River Tours, we highly recommend it! Our tour guides were friendly, fun and extremely helpful in making sure we saw the most animals and got a sense of life on the river. Especially helpful in getting great wildlife photos. From our sun-protected seats on the boat we saw all kinds of birds, monkeys (Spider, Howler, and Capuchin), tiny bats, turtles, and even a flash of crocodile on the riverbank. There were 7 people on our tour which is a great size for an easy, flexible and friendly experience. These guys are young, but they are PROs!

We had a fabulous trip on the Siepe River with Kokopelli Tours.
The guide was very knowledgeable about all the animals and plants we saw on the trip. The tour was relaxing on a covered boat with cold drinks and a great atmosphere 😊
We can definitely recommend Kokopelli to anyone thinking of doing a river tour 👍🏼

The first half of the tour was amazing. We were in a nice comfortable pontoon. We were supposed to have a guide and helmsman however the guide never showed up to work so the helmsman did both. The first 90 minutes we went downriver into the jungle and it was beautiful. We saw lots of wildlife and even went up a canal with trees overhead on both sides. We saw white faced capuchins, spider monkeys and many scarlet macaws, crocodiles and many birds. We even saw a Potoo bird perched on bamboo. I could of easily done the entire 3 hours downriver.

For some reason we went upriver and turned up through the old town for the second half of the tour. We went past old concrete factories and under bridges. I don't know if there was a cool destination we were heading to because our guide said rain was coming and he turned around. The second 90 minutes turned into 60 minutes and the 8 people on board had lost interest by this point.

I would probably do it again because the first 90 minutes were so enjoyable, however, I would ask not to go through the town. We did see a kingfisher on the second half and that was interesting.

We took a tour with the guide Josue and the captain José. The tour was very interesting and rewarding mainly because of the knowledgeable guide who had a true passion for nature and wildlife and who showed us both plants, birds and various animals. We also learnt about the environmental challenges that Costa Rica faces. A very pleasant and interesting tour. Thank you 🙏!
