Great adventure

‘Climbing’ Rám Szakadék was a fun adventure and I would love to do it again. It was a little bit challenging at times, but in a fun way.

Great challenge for the whole family
Oct 2017
We went for a one day round trip from Dömös. The first 3 kilometers of the track is in a walley. That's a good warming up for everybody. The entrance of Rám-szakadék is clearly signed in a post, there is also notification about the right direction. Please note that the right direction is from Dömös upwards. Many people comes down from Dobogókő which is so annoying. People must wait a lot if someone arrives to ledders and narrow paths from the opposite direction.
At the top of Rám-szakadék you can choose to continue upwards to Dobogókő (so we did) or return to Dömös through Fülöp - árok (the path is signed with yellow line tourist signs).
We got to Dobogókő after 32 and half hours climbing had some food and drinks there and returned to Dömös later. The whole trakking took almost 6 hours but it's worthy.
Rám szakadék is safe, not difficult, but good challenge for the whole family. Our child was 7 when we did wis trip, I think all children above 6 years in a normal conition and parental guide are able to make this easily.

A very nice hiking experience
Nov 2016 • Family
You don't have to be a mountaineer in order to climb this ravine. It is a very nice hiking tour. It's a one way tour, you can take it from the bottom to the top. The best, if you start from Dobogókő and go aside the deep until its bottom. The environment is just beautiful. If you like hiking, you must do it! :)

The "musthave" canyon near Budapest
May 2017 • Friends
One of the few real canyons in Hungary! It is a littlebit like in the Slovensky Raj, but a littlebit smaller and shorter. It is very near to Budapest, that's why plenty of turists flood it when the weather is good. it is about a 10 km hike from Dömös (4,5 up 5,5 down).

Rám-szakadék (Rám Canyon) half day tour near the Danube river
Feb 2017 • Friends
I was visiting the Rám Szakadék with firends at the end of winter.
Some parts of the canyon was still covered by snow/ice which made it beautifull. Everywhere warning messages about the ice. The trip was with medium difficulty. Touring shoes highly recommended.

Beautiful citybreak
Apr 2017 • Couples
We celebrated our anniversary here and it was a great choice! From Budapest it takes less than an hour to get Dömös from where the routes start. There is a parking area one day is 1000 HUF (every day 8:00-18:00, one hour 250 HUF) but you can stop with your car in the small streets as well for free. Note that you cannot pay by credit card. Prepare to have enough water and some fruits or snacks with you as there won't be many opportunities to eat. So we started with Rám-szakadék (gap) and it is beautiful during spring! Preair for some adventure due to the rocks you have to climbe on and the stunning view and great atmosphere. It is breathtaking! We went back to the starting point following the yellow line through Lukács-árok (valley) and it is a nice and easy walk in the forest. After we followed the red triangle sign and it was superhard for us (we are not experienced hikers) it takes you on the ridge of the mountain ridge. We wanted to go up to Vadállókövek nice big rocks but after arriving there we decided to countinue up to the View Point Prédikálószék. It is breathtaking! Really! But if you run out of water you cannot buy it anywhere. So be prepared.
If you want to eat a good soup or local hamburger you can do it in a friendly pub at the bottom of the hill until 7/8 pm.
There is also a panzio where you can accommodate. But if their leaflet is right they have 9 rooms and only accept groups 10-20 ppl. It is called Malom Vendégház.
