I would strongly recommend the hike to anyone. It is hands down one of the best hikes you can find in East Switzerland and, especially by walking all of the trail, you get to experience really beautiful sights and places.
The route for the walk is the following: Sargans - (429 or 430 bus) - Wangs - Cableway to Pizolhütte (44 CHF return) - Wangsersee - Pizolhütte - Wildseeluggen - Schottensee - Schwarzsee - Baseggla - Baschalvasee - Gaffia. From the mountains around Pizol you...More
It was a lovely hike on a sunny day. went with 3 kids age 5,6 and 8 and is totally doable, if kids are used to hike longer distances. we also had a swim in one of these lakes - cold but a great experience.
We went on the panoramaweg hiking. Honestly I am very disappointed by what this mountain resort has to offer. After arriving in Bad Ragaz by train, you only find the bus connection once an hour to the pizolbahn Talstatiton. The WC in the station even...More
My friend and I (both females, had some experiences in hiking snowy mounts in Canada) went there on 9 Oct 2016, took the cable car and 2 chairlifts up to Pizol Mountain Hut, started our hike at around 11:20am. We followed reviews of others, went...More
I would say that this hike is for more experienced hikers - it took us almost 6 hours to complete, and in half of the route, we had to climb very steep roads.
Beware that the ski-lifts close at 16.00 so you have to hurry...More
This was my first big hike in Switzerland, and it's a stunner.
We were a group of about 30 people, and it took us around 3.5 hours to do it. But, we choose a sunny Sunday in August, and actually getting to the starting point...More
We drove to Pizolstrasse where there was plenty of parking right by the Pizolbahnen. We expected to pay for parking but all the meters were covered, not sure whether this is the norm for the summer. It was fairly busy, we queued for 20 mins...More
This 4-5 hour long hike is perfectly suited for experienced and non-experienced hikers alike. If you are in Switzerland for a short time and want to experience the mountains properly, this is your go-to place. Do not forget to bring a Camera (and a jacket)....More
Our third trip to Switzerland....this is a real gem of a hike. Three gondola rides from Wangs to Pizolhutte. Two of the gondolas are open ski lift chairs. We had an absolutely gorgeous sun filled short-sleeve day all the way, but make sure if rain...More

The chairlift runs this year from 1/2 july to october. We have been up there one week ago. You dont have to use the chairlift. You can drive up to the "Berghotel Alpina" and walk from there. Make sure you have proper gear with you, there is still a lot of snow on the shady tracks. If you walk from the "Berghotel Alpina" the 5-lakes route takes about 5 to 6 hours and 19km.
Alternatively you can thake the funicular from "Bad Ragaz" which runs already daily.
