Candlebark Park is in Templestowe on the opposite side of Fitzsimons Lane to Westerfold Park and adjacent to the Yarra River. It is an excellent area for beginners. The tight corners and rocky sections provide some challenge and opportunity to hone skills. There are always kangaroos to be seen and plenty of bird life. Good parking is available. Toilets and picnic facilities are just a short walk away by crossing under the main road. I have ridden there about 30 times in the past year. It stands up well to wet weather when other MTB areas are muddy.

This area is a fabulous walking area taking in river walks, bush and open grasslands. The wild life is prolific and its worth spending several hours walking here. ( The fishing is worth trying.)

Hans loop offers great tracks for leaners and intermediate riders. The tracks are multi directional and can be hard to find, but just follow your nose!! There are rock gardens, good switch back climbs and flowing St through the gun trees. Watchout for the Kangaroos!! A great place to ride and close to Melbourne. Call into Petty's orchard for a great coffee as well.

Overall Candlebark MTB Park has the same trails, jumps and enough obstacles for average riders. Quite a fun experience despite comparing to the big boys such as Melbourne's You Yangs and Lysterfield.
Not well signed and has lesser commercial elements but it has BBQ and modern toilet faciities...unlike You Yangs. The trails are all bi-directional and it's well maintained and drained. So, it's not surprising to witness very little mud during winter rides as compared to some of the bigger but muddier Melbourne MTB park like Forrest and Buxton. A salute to the people who volunteered their time to maintain them. You people are legends!
Despite a low profile and small 'mtb park', it has sufficient fun and training environment for any level of riders except downhill/gravity.

As a cyclist, this park is the main link between the Diamond Creek Trail and the Mullum trail. Suitable for most bikes, it is just a lovely, peaceful part of the world for cyclists, joggers, walkers and pets. Worth a visit.

I really love this park (as I do with the majority of the parks along the Yarra). It's close to the diamond valley railway and connected to the equally good westerfold park. The name of the park (candlebark) comes from the candlebark trees that used to be common along the Yarra. This park is one of the few remaining spots where they are common. You will also see a lot of Manna gums. The highlight is the abundance of fauna especially kangaroos
