About
Namsskogan Familiepark is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Nord-Trondelag. We have the biggest collection of Nordic animals in Norway! Here you can meet bears, moose, wolves, arctic foxes, lynx, wolverine and many other creatures. We offer activities like climbing park, zip-line, alpine racer, crash boats, bungee trampolines and more. Young children can visit our farm with tame animals like hedgehogs and sheep. You can spend the night in a wooden lavvu right by the bears, feed the arctic foxes, or join the zoo keepers when they feed the animals. For more info, visit familieparken.no or our Facebook page

Expensive and only junk food available
Jul 2018 • Family
It is very disappointing that not everything is included in the already expensive entrance ticket. A short ride with a horse is 30kr ekstra pr person, sliding on the zipline is 100kr per person. We did not access the climbing park, which would have been 130kr ekstra per person.

The only food that was available were hamburgers/sausages and fries. No opportunity to get something healthy. In addition were the prices high, especially when you consider the quality of te food.

Apart from that, the park looks clean, the personell is friendly and the available attractions are joyful and diverse. It is very warm when we attended, so we were not able to see so many animals because they were hiding from the sun.

A nice family friendly place
Jul 2018 • Family
Visited the park with my girlfriend and her two daughters during our vacation. We got super lucky with the weather so the sun came out and said hello. Could not have asked for a vetter time to come. The park has everthing you could wish for in terms of things to do. It really dosen't matter if you are a kid or an adult. There are activities that suits everybody. You can walk around the park and see the animals on your own or you can look at the sceduals and see when the animal keepers present and feed them. I really liked the presentation because they give alot of information about the various animals so that was interesting.
There are many other activities to do and you must keep in mind that some of them do come at an extra charge. For me it took some of the pleasure away because the price of admition for two adults and two children is quite steep as it is. Ofcourse maintenance and salary for the workers comes at at price as well so with that in mind the price is where it should be. One thing I would reccomend is that if you are planning to stay in the park for a whole day you should consider bringing at least lunch because the prices for food and drinks were ridiculous. I won't go into details about the prices but i'm super happy about bringing lunch and something to drink for the four of us. That way we could just buy something small to est before we hit the road and wen't back home.
All in all we had a blast and I can without a doubt in my heart reccomend this park to anyone. We will for sure be back again and maybe next time they will have upgraded and gotten even more activities.
Until the next time.
Sincerely Stig

Amazing place, but little bit expensive.

Entry fee is little bit expensive, but at the other hand, where else you can see bears, wolfs, arctic foxes and many other interesting animals. Exhibits for animals are really nice, animals have got enough space and i think they are treated well. You can find many kid´s playground there and many other activities for kids, you can stay here for a night and woke up next to bear exhibits.

Great place for a day out, however expensive.
Jul 2016 • Family
It's a great place. Great to see all of the Nordic animals in their natural habitat. Lots of activities for all the family to take part in. We particularly enjoyed the tobogganing. The barbecue areas are also a great idea. Having the pedalos and canoes is also great. You can really make a day of this place.

Good, but there is a lot of room for improvement.
Jul 2016 • Family
The animal park in terms of animal collection and how they are kept is great no questions about it. But because animals are kept in their almost natural environment, it is sometimes rather difficult to see them, especially shy ones like wolves for example. It is best to see most of them during the time of feeding. That way you can be sure to have the best chance to see most if not all of them.

When it comes to accommodation it leaves a lot more room for improvement. If you are thinking of staying overnight here be aware that the hotel rooms have two levels with the beds on the upper. There are no windows up there and it does get very hot even on a cold day. There is a small ventilation shaft but it does absolutely nothing. We have visited this place two years in a row and it has not changed. First year it was raining and cold outside, yet inside the room up where the beds are was hot, stuffy and difficult to sleep. The next year it was hot and sunny and it was impossible to sleep in the hotel room. To top it all off, air-conditioning system in the hall where the rooms are didn't work at all. The only option to get some fresh air was to sleep on the couch downstairs.

The showers are old and tired. The bottom seals in the showers are mouldy. Sure the rooms are cleaned after each visit, but they don't feel very clean unfortunately.

Hotel breakfast is hardly anything to be excited about. It is included in the price of the room however it is the least enjoyable breakfast I have had the honour of attending. The choice is lacking. It hasn't changed in two years we were here either. You are given a choice of three types of cold meats, one type of cheese, some pickled herring and jams. You also get some cereal, bread and a choice of coffee, milk or juice. Overall it is just very basic at best.

Considering the price for one night stay it is not the most expensive hotel room but it is most definitely not cheap even by Norwegian standards. The quality just isn't there. The hotel is an addition to the main attraction, which is animal park, and the owners know this and put very little effort in to maintaining the place or offering services worth your money.

I would recommend everyone to enjoy the park but don't stay in the hotel, it's just not worth the money.

Hello Serge! I really agree with you - following a guide is the best way to see some of the animals, especially the wolves. We have 4 guidings every day through the summer season. With 30 different Nordic species, you will, however, see many of them if you walk on your own too. When it comes to accommodation, I'm sorry to hear about your bad experience. I just want to say that Namsskogan Hotel is not run by Namsskogan Familiepark, so I'll bring your comments to the right person. If it comes to a next time for you to visit us, perhaps you should try one of our small "gammer", which is situated inside the park, close to the bears:)

Great day out
Aug 2015 • Family
Had a great day out. The park has a great concept of having all of their animals in their natural environment. We saw Lynx, wolves, brown bears and a wolverine. In addition there are lots of activities for kids. Our 9 y-o son and his one year younger mate tried out everything they could. Thoroughly recommend a visit

Sleeping in 'lavvo' right next to the bears was special!.
Jul 2015 • Family
An amusement park for any person interested in animals. We stayed over in one of their 'lavvos' and had a wonderful time looking at the animals when we were alone in the park. We can recomend it for families, but the "beds" was unconfortable.
We saw all the big norwegian carnivoures (all eleven wolves!!) and many other wonderfull animals, rowed and rode bumper boauts on the lake and had a wonderful time even if the weather was very mixed.

Perfect with small kids
Jul 2015 • Family
This park is perfect for a visit with small kids. (Ours are 3 and 2y) The animals are kept in their 'natural' habitat which adds to the authenticity of the park. Bring your own picnic of you want!

Slow fun
Jul 2014
Probably some of the best kept animals I've seen with huge enclosures for most animals. This unfortunately means that some animals are difficult to see. After paying the entrance fee in addition to animals, this park also has free canoeing, an exhilarating downhill roller coaster and lots of activities for kids. There are also spaces to BBQ. The best ride is a zip-line across a lake, but this requires extra payment. The horse ride also requires extra payment. One annoying part was the inefficiency of staff. Although friendly, there would have been a lot less queuing if staff was trained properly. We left the line at several attractions because the queuing simply took too long.
