After seeing photos of Southside Park 100 years ago while touring the Woodstock museum, we decided to end our day with a trip there. Our summary is that it no longer the crowning gem of Woodstock that it once was. It's almost like the city didn't want visitors to visit since there was no signage to guide our way and the once prominent gate to the park no longer boasts a sign either. Driving in was a challenge because of doodling people with skateboards walking three people wide across the road across the bridge who made no attempt to move over so we could go by too. While there was plenty of parking and picnic tables in the side of the park we visited, there was only one garbage can and recycling bin on our whole walk around the pond. Where many towns would have the path around the lake paved to be accessible for strollers and people with mobility challenges, this one did not. Along our walk, we were also attacked by an aggressive goose that we weren't anywhere near or bothering in any way. Still the walk was nice and other than the one goose, we enjoyed seeing the other geese, ducks and swans on the park. It also looked to have a decent play structure and a skate park, which would appeal to people with young families. So while I wouldn't discourage anyone from visiting here, I wouldn't recommend it either.

A great little park in the city! Lots of parking. Places to eat and for the kids to play. The concession stand and waterpark area are open seasonally, but lots of fun
