Beautiful castle, 850 years old and stil owned by a branch of the same family that lived there in 12th century, 33 generations ago. I really liked the outdoor area. Interior is a bit small and not so fascinating since I've visit many others but...More

The castle was in great shape, and price to see the Treasury/Armory was very reasonable. If you have little kids or aren't great at walking recommend taking the shuttle bus. The walking path is dirt and hard stones not stroller friendly.

Burg Eltz is a beautiful castle with family owned history starting from 13th century. A good english guide and reasonable prices for tickets.

We took the English tour this morning, and enjoyed it much more than Neuschwanstein Castle! Getting there early is highly recommended!

Eltz Castle is restored and brought me into the world of those who had lived there hundreds of years ago. I enjoyed seeing how the walls and ceiling were purported to look back then. It was great to have an English tour, so I could...More

We enjoyed the walk to and from the castle from Moselkern. A steep but safe walk in sensible shoes, not for sandals. We enjoyed the accessible parts of the castle, but did not take the tour as I had done this before and we were...More

Yes I think it's very doable as it's less than a 2-hour drive from Frankfurt Airport. Worth the trouble.
