In the cold winter morning, my family and I drove to this beautiful monument crossing the Italian border east into Slovenia. The view point offers a beautiful view of the Adriatic sea and the gulf of Trieste and the lagoon of Grado. I happened to spot a few European fat cows grazing in the winter 😊. I wonder how summer is like, and I can only plan for a new trip!

The monastery is still maintained with working gardens, church and living quarters. It stands on top of a hill looking out over all the surrounding region. Explore the beautiful church, grounds and monastery.

At the Miren castle, there is still a monastery and a house, where you can rent a room or even stay for a couple of days if it is available. House is often the place of spiritual exercise, usually in Slovene language. Just beside there is a beautiful church and holy stairs with enclosed reliquia. The nature surrounding the place is beautiful - many old trees, paths and resting places (with benches) + fabulous views of Julian Alps, Vipava valley, Dolomites...
