About
Lowe Wines is an organic & biodynamic winery, vineyard and farm in Mudgee NSW, headed by David Lowe. Backed by over 45 years of hands-on experience, Lowe follows a minimal intervention philosophy to produce wine from untrellised and unirrigated vineyards. Combined with their small batch, slow winemaking methods, the resulting wines are a true reflection of the place they are grown. The Lowe Cellar Door lies within the working winery on the Tinja property, and enjoys spectacular views across the vineyards to the surrounding Mudgee hills. Open 7 days, a visit is the best way for you to explore the range of wines, learn their stories and meet the winemakers. Enjoy a personal wine tasting, nibble on a regional platter or take a stroll around the farm, it’s all part of the experience at Lowe Family Wine Co. Next door will also find the acclaimed regional restaurant & food garden, The Zin House, headed by Kim Currie, as well as The Pavilion by Lowe wedding & events space.

    Fabulous experience
We visited Lowe vineyard and were so impressed. The surroundings were beautiful, the staff were both knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. We had a tasting and then purchased a picnic lunch, found a spot and enjoyed the views and beautiful surroundings. We had our dog with us who enjoyed the company of the resident dog. The whole experience was 10/10. Thankyou.

Louise was lovely and guided us through some tastings. Exceptional wines!
This is the best Australian Winery I have visited so far. Their wines are exceptional. The winery offers wine tasting, casual eating, picnic hampers, event catering and fine dining at The Zin House hatted restaurant. The setting is beautiful. Something for everyone.

Great food and wine experience in Mudgee.
A friend recommended this place to us, so we decided to visit on a recent trip to Mudgee. We were immediately taken in by the scenery and atmosphere of this place. We arrived earlier than our Lowe Flow Tasting booking and they easily accommodated us and put us in a slightly earlier tasting, all staff were friendly and welcoming. The tasting was a great experience. The owner even popping in to discuss how some of the wines were named. The young lady who led us on our tour was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed all wines and the accompanying nibbles. The rainy weather did not deter, we had prebooked a deluxe hamper, and were still able to find some space undercover to admire the much needed drizzly rain, the resident dog wooing guests and the gorgeous scenery. The hamper was divine! We will return and spoke about next time coming along with friends who we know would also love this experience.

Best tour for wine knowledge and environment
The premium tour is $150 per couple and its well worth it. The owner David Lowe shows you everything about thebusiness which is so multi faceted. Great place to visit so many aspects to the place and wonderful relaxed vibe. Highly recommended.

    Birthday Treat Weekend
My husband I enjoyed the Trust The Chef experience at Lowes Family Wines. What an afternoon, David (the wine maker) was very entertaining and Kim (the chef) gave us a very good description of what we would be enjoying, while trying to keep David in line LOL. They gave us all crayons and the table was dressed with brown paper, we all got to draw and interact with each other, the best was given a Magnum. What a great time, we will definitely be trying it again.

    Nice Wines with Picturesque surrounds
We booked a wine tasting although it cost $20pp it was worth it. Very professional presentation of great wines and even snacks were provided. Even if you don't like wines it is worth a visit as it is quite picturesque.

Come for the wine…stay for the whole experience
We as a group of 8 friends, absolutely loved our wine tasting experience at Lowes. We had the very informative, knowledgeable but most of all FUN sommelier Brian take us through the 8 wines he was showcasing us. We all agreed we learned things we had never before about each of the wines. I personally am not a wine drinker, only champagne really, but the way Brian educated us on how to serve each different wine was incredible! I enjoyed each and every variety due to his guidance, and of course the quality product we were drinking. We added to our experience, 2 pre-paid Deluxe Grazing Hampers that were a taste sensation. Divine, fresh and delicious produce. We were blessed with wonderful winter weather and the view at the property is sensational. We can’t wait to come back next year!!! (This was my second visit, last year we just ordered a bottle of wine to sip whilst taking in the view. So we wanted the whole experience this time. We were not disappointed).

The gentleman who was older behind the bar was lovely. A younger gentleman told us they were full and could not accommodate us for wine tasting. But we could buy a "glass of wine" if we liked. We had just been booted from bluesfest in byron so we were accustomed to being treated poorly over easter. However the older gentleman was amazing. Explained the wines to us. We spent $300 on wine. Something maybe the younger guy needs to understand that older people spend money. The wines are lovely as is the winery.
I am only giving 3 stars due to the way the younger guy treated us saying they were full. Change the culture maybe and how you greet people and next time five stars. But dont let my review put you off it is great place.

Some nice wines but the food offerings are very limited and expensive, so similar to other reviews I would recommend eating elsewhere. They also charge corkage if you get a bottle of their wine to drink in the garden which put a dampener on things. However i was the last stop of the day and a lovely location to finish on.

Wine tasting has changed with Covid. Now it is all seated and served, with a $10pp charge and not refundable even if you buy wine! We had a pleasant experience with a knowledgeable young lady walking us through the wines. The location was stunning and the experience relaxing. Food is available at a cost, to add to the experience. We didn’t take the food options. The wines we tasted and liked, were way above our pay grade!!

Beautiful location and setting - with a very knowledgeable woman who conducted the tasting. Looks like the food would be very good as well. I know there is a creeping practice of charging for wine tasting, although I am used to this being judiciously applied - however this is the first place I have ever been in Australia that still insists on charging a tasting fee even when you buy some wine (and I have visited >10 wines regions in Australia). I thought the wines were very good quality, but that said very expensive.

We really enjoyed our experience (~2 hours) at Lowe Family Wines, the wine tasting of course (def book ahead!) with a small charge, and would recommend a food platter for lunch or grazing, baguettes, cheese, dips, etc. at one of the many tables overlooking the vineyards and paddocks surrounding the property. Then take a stroll around the property and soak up the country atmosphere, preferably under blue skies....

Very good cellar door. Well run and organised as well as some excellent wines. Grounds looked nice for a wander, though we were restricted by wet weather. The rain meant all customers had to be seated indoors so some walk-ins were turned away, understandably. Bookings therefore definitely recommended however they were genuinely trying to accommodate as many as they could without compromising the service. We were served by the Cellar Door Manager who set an excellent example to her staff and was very knowledgeable about the product she was selling. She had a lot on her plate that day but still looked after us well. As far as the wines go, Pana Riesling a little gem. Not your average Riesling. We did the lunch at Zin House straight afterwards but will talk about that in a separate review.

I took along a friend from the US to The Lowe winery as a starting point to some Mudgee vineyards. We were met by Nathan who had an easy going and professional approach to the Lowe wines and was intuitive to our specific interests. To top it off Nathan was very helpful in suggesting other producers that he thought would complement our wine tastes for 5he remainder of our stay in Mudgee.

This winery was by far the best looking one in Mudgee. The scenery is stunning: beautiful lookout and sophisticated looking barrels and setup.

Currently it’s $10 for wine tasting and then you can assemble your own cheese platters (each item has a cost l like ham and salami, fetta, and a baguette is $5 and it’s so warm!)

Good service too. It gets quite full so if you have a table booked, it’s best.

If you’re here in July / August, pack your warmest clothes: it is icey even at 1pm.

We had heard from friends that you needed to book a tasting in advance at Lowes, so thankfully we had booked in our tasting and were seated at a gorgeous wooden barrel. There is a lot of space around a beautiful lake for picnics, if you didn’t prebook your tasting or if you wanted to enjoy the afternoon sun. The lady who ran our tasting seemed quite knowledgeable and friendly!

Dropped in for a tasting. Sat outside on a table overlooking the vines and district.

Went in and created our own platter of food from the fridge on the big boards created. Meats cheese olives hummus breads etc.

Grabbed a couple tasting glasses and the wines brought around to our table poured and explained.

This was on a Wednesday afternoon so may not happen on busy weekends.

Wine was pretty good. Liked the Merlot and Zinfandel

Didn’t charge us for the tasting. Staff friendly and knowledgeable.

We’re giving away Jerusalem Artichokes basically help yourself.

Nice afternoon
