We were on a group train tour in the Costa Brava. This wasn't a real train of course and not on our itinerary but I know there are companies who do put the Tren Roses Express on their group train tours.
Believe me, it is worth every penny of the €24 each for the 2-hour Alt Puig Natura tour that leaves at 3:00pm.
At the highest point we stopped for panoramic views of Roses and Cadaques and the boxed wine and traditional biscuits came out. We had a grand time at the summit surround by cows and the most amazing views!
Marc, our driver was a gem. It's tough work opening and closing the special access gates as you traverse the national park terrain of Cap de Creus and he kept us safe with his expert driving on the journey up and back.
We went to places that the public are not permitted to go.
The ride along the roads were hair-raising and utterly thrilling, at time just 1 foot from the edge of the cliff edges!
Be prepared to get dusty from head to toe as the route off-road is on dirt tracks.
Walk with wet wipes and you'll be fine.
I would do this again in a heartbeat!

Very nice walk of 1h30. The driver had to reinflate the flat tires in the middle of the hill... with a smile!! With the purchase of the ticket, a seat is allocated to you which allows you not to come too far in advance, it is well organized. If you think you are not on the right side at Check-out, you will be on the way back because the train is turning around. Award very affordable and 3 beautiful photos taken at Check-out of travelers for 15€ is more than correct.

Great opportunity to explore the Bay of Roses and the Cap de Creus Nature Park on exposed country roads; especially during the flowering season and in sunny weather, all tours offer incomparable and wonderful views of the sea, the wild coastal landscape of the Costa Brava and the partially completely untouched nature. - At the sightseeing stops during the long tours (Puig Alt and Joncols), the "happily surprised" passengers are offered regional Moscatel (sweet white wine) and very tasty biscuits (... everything with plenty of "seconds") for free; as a "connoisseur" of the tours, you look forward to this "break or snack" even before the trip (instead of the Moscatel, there is also healthy mineral water for purists)! - The "Trens" (tractors) are not comparable to those of the usual tourist "trams" in the cities; The Roses-Trens are extremely powerful and large "monster vehicles" that can handle any incline and any challenge with ease and power.

It's best. The Rose City and Little Train that I met while traveling with my mother became unforgettable memories. It was a 2 hour and 30 minute journey, and I was just happy with the beautiful coastal scenery, village roads and mountain paths in every corner of the country, and the cheerful driver. If you visit Rhodes, be sure to take it. We all cheered at the end of the train journey.

Don't get confused when you think of a little train especially a road train how wrong you can be. This is definitely not your average train journey absolutely exhilarating, exciting, with the most spectacular views you can wish for as you wind up to the top of the national park where the train stops and the exceptional driver gives us sangria and cookies. An experience you'll never forget and always leave you with a big smile on your face.

Very nice little train. We did the big loop of the mountain. Magnificent views of the bay of Roses and Cadaques. Exuberant vegetation with lots of flowers in this season, broom, white and pink rockroses, etc...
Little tasting of an excellent wine at the summit, a little extra.
We have not regretted it and we highly recommend it.

We did the Pug Alt tour. Brilliant so much fun going up tracks you would not believe. A few stops for photo opportunities, best of all was Pug Alt and the gratis Sangria and biscuits.
Ramon the driver was a grey host too.

Booked the 2 hour trip, found it a bit slow but the roads were winding and the carriages full. Once we got out of the urban area and into the nature park it got steeper, narrower and a bit scarier! The driver was great and we had no issues. We stopped at the highest point with fantastic views, with complimentary sangria and biscuits.
Overall exceeded my expectations, great views and a memorable experience.

There are different tours, we did the “Bay”, an hour and a half, more than enough to see the village, the upper caseplones, the bay and a bit of the natural park. It’s not the typical rattling tourist train that gives you a walk around town. A pleasant walk to get to know Roses comfortably and its surroundings, I recommend it. If you buy online you already have even the assigned seat, very well organized.

Written January 17, 2020
The booking office is a small building on the promenade. Go straight to the beach and turn left you will see the Roses Express noticeboards on the beach side of the promenade 5/10 minutes stroll away. The start and finish point for trips is at the booking office.
