This is a historical landmark with more than 2 thousand years. Avoid walking during the day because the temperature reaches +40 degrees Celsius really easily in the afternoon. Evenings are perfect for a walk and yo appreciate how beautiful the bridge is. Also there posters in the beginning of the bridge explaining the history

El Puente de Palmas
This bridge is the oldest one of the city of Badajoz and is crossing the Guadiana River and this at the “Puerta de Palmas” the connection between the city and the locations of “San Fernado & Santa Isabel” at the boorder of the river. The bridge has being built in between 1460 and 1511. The bridge has 32 arches and has a length of about 585 meters, this dimensions have changed with time and the reconstructions. One of the best views you will have from the walls of the Alcazaba.

To be honest I was expecting a more impressive bridge. I guess it's nice to be able to cross the river on a pedestrian-only bridge, but the views from it were only so-so.

A beautiful, historic town. Badajoz square is a work of art with beautiful contrasting brick patterns and arches. It's definately a hidden gem and an unknown Spanish town well worth a visit. Beautiful parks down to the water where you can walk right along under the bridge. Very good bar in the park and busy in the evenings with families walking, cycling, skating etc.
