Navy Sea Dog and War Hero
Jul 2019
We came across this statue by accident, as it is close to the port and in front of the tourist office. The tourist office sells a book about Bamse, titled "Sea Dog Bamse: World War II Canine Hero" by Andrew Orr. A similar statue is in Montrose Harbor, Scotland where Bamse is buried. Interesting history.

Bamse (Norwegian for Teddy Bear) was a St. Bernard dog that became the heroic mascot of Free Norwegian during the Second World War. He became a symbol of Norwegian freedom during the war.

The statue is just outside the Arctic Suvenir shop which is around the corner from the tourist center

It’s a statue
Dec 2019 • Couples
It’s a statue with a story behind it. It is located just before the tourist office and close to the sea/harbor. When you are in the neighborhood, look at it, take a picture, but do not travel to Honningsvag especially to see it.

Must see
Sep 2019
This statue was on the must see list at Honningsvåg. Bamse’s story is known in Scotland. We couldn’t come all this way without seeing the memorial statue of a wartime hero!

We stopped in this little town on our cruise to the north Cape. Not much here but some restaurants and a couple of gift shops. This was an interesting statue.

Jul 2019
Honningsvag is a village with few attraction, this is one of them. It's a statue dedicated to an heroic dog with a sign with it's history but it is anyway a statue like many other
