One of the most poorly managed tours I've ever played for. We took the "North Cape Express" 2 adults @ 2180,00kr. We had no tour guide, we didn't visit a Suni Family and only viewed Reindeer from the bus. The driver couldn't get the commentary right and when we got to the North Cape he didn't even know how to obtain the entry tickets. We could have played less for the local bus outside the Information Centre, I feel completely ripped off. This is a poor reflection on the people of Norway.

If you are heading to the Nordkapp, here are some tips;
1. If you stay in Honningsvag, there is a bus that leaves from the tourist information centre 5 times a day during the summer - it's very easy and there is no need to book. The bus company is called Boreal and it costs 490NOK return which includes the park fee. It is a very easy 45 min bus ride and the scenery is spectacular.
2. Whatever you do, don't buy your ticket from the Honningsvag Tourist information desk, it is not accepted by the bus driver! We got caught on this and almost didn't make it to the Nordkapp!
3. There are no buses from Honningsvag airport into the town centre, so you will need to call a taxi when you arrive. It's 4.6km from the airport and costs 200NOK...there are only 3 taxis in the whole town, so be patient
4. There is not much to do in the town, although a visit to the Perleperton theatre is a must...there is always a good show on with local talent, 2 days in ten town is plenty to experience life in Honningsvag and to see the Nordkapp.
5. Pack food and drinks as it is very expensive at the cafe up at the Nordkapp!
6.Finally no matter how sunny and warm it is in town, if you are heading to the Nordkapp, take warm clothing (especially if you are going in the evening), it gets very cold around midnight
It's a once in a lifetime trip...it will simply take your breath away.

The excursion organised by our ship was already booked and so, reassured by the helpful responses from other Trip Advisor answers, we made a reservation on-line with the Honnigsvag Tourist Office. And we were so glad we did. There were just 5 of us in a mini bus on the trip to the Cape and we received excellent care and service from Kim, our local driver. He took us to a fishing village and Christmas Hut which I think were not included in the boat trip itinerary as well as making photo stops when requested. (And it was a few pounds cheaper than the boat!) The journey up to the Cape was awesome. Bleak, icy, remote - you really felt like you were going to the end of the Earth. The area around the Visitor Centre was very icy - mostly gritted but the bits they missed were like a skating rink. The wind was blowing a gale when we were there with additional powerful gusts which made tottering around on the ice a real challenge, but we got to the iconic globe and the other cliff-edge attractions. Views are amazing. Then, a welcome retreat into the warmth and shelter of the Visitors' Centre. Lots to see there - did not have time for a coffee as there was the movie of the seasons on the island, a light show, various model 'dioramas' of events in the history of the cape, a chapel and a tiny Thai museum to see. Also, lovable wooden Trolls for photo opportunities. In November the sun sets at around 1.30pm!! We left at 1.45pm and in the twilight, followed a convoy of coaches back down to the town, with a visit to an old wooden church and a chance to go shopping. By that time it was dark, sleeting heavily and getting rapidly colder - some quick dashes to a shop and back to our ship! A day we will always remember. In summer it might seem less imposing - but in November, with snow, ice and gales you are in no doubt that you really are in a most privileged position at the most northern point in mainland Europe.

Nordkapp is the northernmost point of Europe (almost, because geographically Knivskjelodden is the northernmost, but less outstanding in terms of impression) and the northernmost rip-off, if you pay the full price ticket to get to the edge of the continent. (full price 245NOK) Thanks God I was told how to avoid paying this incredible fee: before reaching the payment gates, leave the road to the right and walk towards the side of the island. In foggy weather be careful in order not to walk too close to the edge, than walk straight and you are in. The small hill will cover you from the eyes of the cassiers sitting in their box at the gate. Fence does not surround the area, so you can tresspass easily. Ticket will not be asked to present anywhere. If the weather is mearciful, enjoy the view!

We visited the North Cape on our Norweigen cruise as one of the many trips we did, i would say this was one of the highlights and definitely worth seeing!!
During our cruise we experienced the 24hr sunset which was amazing, the dramatic scenery here at the North Cape was the best I would love to return to see the northern lights!!
They offer the chance to watch a video of the Cape which i would highly recommend, my hubby was sceptical as he didn't want to waste time on a movie but i said i was going in with or without you, he was very glad i talked him into it, the views where of the Cape during summer and winter showing you the drastic change in scenery as well as going under water as if you where in a submarine, it was the most impressive movie i have seen to date and i will never forget our visit, a trip to the Norweigen Fjords wouldn't be complete without a visit to the furthest point North in Eurpoe, the most impressive NORTH CAPE!!

The bus tour from Honningsvaag to North trip is the best thing to do for a day on the island. We were there on a cruise ship, but did not buy the tour through them, which would have cost 3 times the price. We met the bus in the same parking lot as the cruise busses and actually had a better tour, including stops to a local Sami family and a fishing village before arriving at North Cape. We had plenty time to visit the museum, see the included film and take great pictures of the dramatic landscape. We contacted the local tourist office and they told us how to buy the tickets in advance. All tours are adjusted to accommodate the cruise ships, so if the ship arrives late, they will wait for you. Take a coat, even if it is warm in Honningsvaag, since the weather may be very different in North Cape. Wonderful experience.

Even we looked at the cost of the cruise ship tour from Honningsvag to North Cape, wow it was costly, over $200 per person. We thought we would just look for something on shore. We found a wonderful bus tour with a great guide. Not only did we see North Cape, but we also stopped at the "Laplander" market and display, and a great side trip to a fishing village. Our cost was $82 a person. Catch the tour, ArticTravel just after getting out of the cruise pier. A real bargain and a better tour.

Obviously, when you are in Honningsvag, you should also go up to the North Cape, at 71.2 degrees, beyond the Arctic Circle. We ordered the transfer on the North Cape Express bus from the Honningsvag information center via the internet for 590 NOK (about $72) per person. For this amount we got the same as our co-sailors on the cruise who paid $170 per person if they bought the transfer from the shipping company, a saving of $400 for our group of four. Needless to say that we enjoyed the whole trip despite the sunny but quite cold weather.

We drove from Saariselka in Finnish Lapland to Norkapp (and back) in one day - a very full day! We did this in February, when the roads are covered in snow and ice - on studded winter tyres, of course (which is the norm for a rental car at that time of year).
We left Saariselka at 07:30 - a little later than planned. The first part of the drive - to Inari - was quite fast - able to get to 120kph, but after that you are really limited to 90 or 100kph max - at times in northern Norway (around Honningsvag), we were reduced to just 5kph due to terrible visibility - the wind whipping up the snow from the roadside, meaning you are only able to see the next red post marker (10 meters?).
So, given that the convoys only leave Skardsvag at 12noon and 1pm, plan your trip accordingly. Norway is one hour behind Finnish time, so that gained us an hour. The convoy starts at a barrier to the Nordkapp road on your left just before the road reaches Skardsvag itself - you can't miss it!
We were only one of two cars in the convoy, with five coaches (passengers from the Hurtigruten at Honningsvag). Norkapp closes at 2:30pm, with the final convoy of the day leaving at 2:45pm. We parked in the car park, and just about avoided being blown over by the 80mph winds (at a temperature of -10C, the wind chill was incredibly low). Despite thermal gloves and liners, I experienced frost bite - felt dizzy and nauseous, and had to retreat inside for a hot drink. 15 mins later, I was fine. As we walked around the outside of the building to the actual cap, we missed the main reception area (and paying, although not deliberately) - but, alas, they caught up with us in the car (tap on window and card machine in hand - depsite that ferocious wind!) as the convoy was about to depart!
It took us five hours each way to drive from Saariselka - and a tank and a half of fuel (in a VW Polo 1.2). Fuel stations are confined to the main towns only - so never let your tank go below 25% full, or you may be stranded. On our route, fuel was available at: Ivalo, Inari, Karasjok, Lakselv, Indre Billefjord, and Honningsvag. I expected to also find a fuel station at the Norway/Finland border town of Karisagniemi, but I didn't see any (also no customs, etc. - just drive straight through).
I think that was the most challenging drive of my life, but well worth it, despite the entry fee of around £23 each (not checked the credit card bill yet!)

This was an excellent tour with a superb lady guide. Her knowledge was first rate and she showed us the best of her region on the way to the Cape, providing more than expected and than the tour had initially said. She deserves a big bonus!t

I am hoping to be see the midnight sun at north cape this summer. Does it matter if I am there on Jun 22nd versus Jul 4th? Trying to plan my trip and how important is it to be there at north cape on the longest days versus 10 days around?
Written January 28, 2024
We were there in July and I don’t remember seeing the midnight time to be honest I thought that was there in winter, I could be wrong. No matter what you’ll enjoy the Cruise if you’re going on a cruise. The whole of Norway is fabulous. You might be better googling that question

Is there public transportation from Honningvag Port to Nordkapp? What is the cost? How frequently does it leave Honningsvag?
Written July 22, 2022
We used a local tour company Blue Puffin. They were excellent. Took us also to a fishing village and see the king crabs 🦀. Loved that. Plus the north cape visitor centre. Day trip on a 50 seater bus was around £100 each. We were on sky princess cruise ship in June.

We will be coming to Honningsvag on 1 July by cruise ship. We have taken the bus to the North Cape before but we found 1:15 at the top was not enough. Is it possible to travel by public bus and spend longer at the top?

Hi!
Most of the bus tours have between 1 hour and 15-30 minutes at the North Cape.
If you would like to have more time at the North Cape, renting a car from the local car rental might be an option. You can rent a car from Nordkapp Bilservice. mail@nordkappbilservice.no

I cannot find an accurate answer. I found a bus ride from Honningsvag that was 750 Kroners pp plus about 450 Kroners pp for the entry fee. One travel site hints that there is a "regular" city bus (#405 and #912) that is roughly 100 Kroners pp each way. Is that true or is 750 Kroners round trip the cheapest bus ride available? We are going to be there on May 5 and already made an on-line reservation for the 750 ride (I assume we either pay on the bus or in the tourist office). Thanks

I can’t help I’m afraid. We travelled on the Hurtigruten ‘Breakfast at the North Cape’ trip last September, so it was all included & paid for in advance. I hope you get there ok & enjoy the experience.

I assume you are arriving with the Hurtigruten ship. The North Cape Winter Tour is a bus tour that corresponds with the ships times, so this will be a great option! You can read more about it on our website, where you can also book your tickets: nordkapp.no/en

Are there public transportation from the cruise ship to North Cape? If so, how often do they run. Is there a website I can visit to check the schedules. We will be there June 2020
Written January 6, 2020
I don’t know I’m afraid, as we booked the ‘Breakfast tour’ through Hurtigruten. Yes, they are expensive, but if anything goes wrong (bus breaks down etc) & you are late back, the ship will not wait. You are on your own! There wasn’t public transport at the time of day we went anyway (5.30am!). Personally we didn’t feel it was worth the risk, but it’s up to you!
Written March 5, 2020
Hello. Do tour companies such as 'Blue Puffin' accommodate cruise line schedules?
( We are open to other tour company suggestions, though reviews of this company are excellent. The ship tour is shorter and more expensive)
We will be on Holland America Nieuw Statendam. Scheduled to be at Honningsvag
Sunday June 14 from 10am to 6pm. We absolutely must visit the North Cape and would also like to see Honningsvag. Any information would be very much appreciated
