A worth visiting museum in the heart of Eretria. All excavations are from the Early Bronze Age to the period of Roman rule. Its a pity such places are not known or advertised to Greeks, you see mainly tourists from abroad. Its worth crossing the main street and visiting the ancient theatre as well.

We enjoyed the exhibition in this museum. It's very small, only two rooms and some outdoor sites, but very informative and interesting. All information on the displays is written in Greek and French though, no English.

This is a museum rich in artifacts from a very interesting region in Eubea. The labelling is poor and the staff is not knowledgeable.

The Museum of Eretria is one of the most important archaeological museums in Greece, and presents findings from various eras.
It houses a lot of items that were found at the area of Eretria and around like in Amarynthos.During our recent visit we saw a lot of amphoraes and ceramics, many tomb inscriptions and also sculptures from the Hellenistic times, while the most important item are the sculptures of the temple of Apollo

Went here on Wednesday when the weather so great. Whilst there is a fair amount (not lots) to see inside, all the explanations are in Greek and French only - my schoolgirl French didn't extend to archaeology etc. so I struggled

The Eretria Archaeological Museum is rather small, but it holds some really significant finds from the nearby archaeological site. The exhibits are plentiful and present an interesting picture of a bygone era. The 2 euro admission price is tiny, so it is worth visiting if you are in the area. The only problem is that it closes at 3.00 pm, like many museums in Greece.

Eretria has one of the most interesting museums for Classical and Hellenistic era. The city used to be one of the major in ancient times South Greece, together with Athens, Sparta and Corinth and Chalkis. It used to have one of the stronger naval fleets and has settled a lot of colonies in ancient world of Mediterranean sea.
The museum is full of statues, tombs, inscriptions and art (jewelry, pottery etc.) from this Era. You definitely have to visit it in case you pass from Eretria.

I ate here two years ago and was happy to see it was still here
It is on the harbour front with the row of tables nearest the sea on a wooden decking
The restaurant has a ship feel to it with plenty of breeze our party of 6 had a traditional meal of meat fish and stuffed vegetables which was about 50 euros without any alcohol
The kids ended up by cooling off swimming in the sea in front of the restaurant

Kalo taxizi !
