While the building is impressive and well maintained, we found the rooms pretty small and old fashion. Well maintained but for example the bath room is quite outdated. What we found disappointing was the quality of the bed and especially the pillows are dramatic. We booked an arrangement with the Vendome restaurant and the hotel did not even take the effort to put a note in the room with a confirmation of the restaurant time or the details of the arrangement package. Small effort for a 1000 euro package for one night but none of that. Not sure I would stay here again.

Just visited the hotel for the gourmet restaurant. Booked a junior suite and was offered a discounted upgrade by two levels. Not sure what the new room was called. The exterior of this property is Grand and almost majestic. Large cobblestone yard and good views over Cologne some 20km away means this should be a great venue for large personal and corporate events. I found the suite somewhat disappointing lacking the size and offering only one bathroom. Interior decoration was also lacking in imagination. The room was perfectly clean and the bed comfortable. There was some annoying low level noise during the night from what seemed like a boiler nearby but I'm not sure what it was. We didn't get to check out breakfast since we left early the following morning. Overall were pleased with the visit but were disappointed because we expected more.

We had a wonderful Christmas stay in The Schloss Bensberg. The staff were so friendly and helpful. No request was too big or too small. Our room was large and spacious with a view of Cologne. The housekeeping staff kept the room very clean and paid attention to every small detail. The food was excellent and the breakfast buffet was very extensive. There was a wonderful atmosphere in the hotel at Christmas and they left a gift in the room on Christmas Day. I would highly reccomend this hotel and we look forward to returning to it in the near future.

We have mixed feelings about the place. What we loved: the place is big, rooms are spacious, nice view on the city below (from rooms at the second floor), nicely decorated, there is a neighbourhood playground at the back of the schloss, staff is friendly and considerate. What we did not like: there is an additional charge for parking in its own underground parking and it’s not cheap - 28 euro. The breakfast is classic, but low on vegetables and fruits. It’s nice, but in my view is not diverse enough for 35 euro tag. And there is an additional charge if one wants to order eggs Benedict or pancakes with waiting time 15-20 min. These additional charges were unexpected in a 5-star place and seem to be inadequate

One of the best accommodation experience I have had in Germany, friendly staffs, excellent front-door service, spacious room, antique infrastructure with contemporary softwares, classic up-scale dinning experience, boutique jewelry store. AND, the weekend breakfast that should not be missed~!! Simply stay-in and enjoy the facilities that this accommodation offers and the little community (within 10 minutes walking distance - super market, wine shops, cafe, bakery ... etc) provides will be more than enough for a 3 night "getaway". A must visit.
