Mewstone View
Sep 2021
Large car park free for NT members. Good coastal walks, beach, rock pools, toilet facilities. Beware the cafe closes at 4pm, just when you might fancy a coffee! That apart an ideal spot to spend the day with good view of the Mewstone.

Successful and relaxed visit
Aug 2021 • Family
A great spot for a family and grandparents day out. A grey sanded but inviting beach despite it being very cloudy. The National trust car park was not full on arrival at 1030 hrs. It does cost £6 if you are a non member! Beach had plenty of space for everyone and the cafe was good with food and proper coffees! Well worth going!

Perfect Walking Route
Jul 2021
Perfect starting point for a blustery walk along the coast path, can do a loop when get to the next cove which was nice to mix the walking up. Great little cafe nearby also. Worth a visit and a wander, only issue was the expensive national trust parking charges if only want to stay for an hour or two.

An amazing beach for all to relax and enjoy
Jul 2021 • Family
Absolutely loved this beach today. The beach is so special with lovely stones, a stream, cool water, rocks and rock pools. There's a beautiful church overlooking the beach and a wedding took place when we were there. Visitors are friendly and the whole place relaxed.

Nice but seaweedy beach
Jul 2021
Wembury beach is very pretty, overlooked by the church and the old stone mill, with a lovely view out to sea towards a small island. There is a lot of seaweed though, which is difficult to avoid as the beach is so small, which smells a bit and attracts a lot of flies, so it's not a place for an idyllic undisturbed sit down though.

Well maintained beach
Jul 2021
Lovely little beach. Sandy and pebbly but watch out for the black sludgy seaweed!
Very clean with a little cafe and toilets. Toilets were very clean. Parking charge of £6 a bit much. My son says it's very good and you'll really like it.

Coastal path walk
Apr 2021
What a lovely unspoilt beach where dogs are allowed until the end of April. Very nice place to walk along coastal path with super views of The Mewstone

Frustrating and upsetting
Mar 2021
The discriminatory car park charges are unfairly denying the elderly on small pensions who can only stay for short visits, access to the view. I'm a local resident and used to regularly drive my 94 year old mum here as she has fond memories of time there with my dad and loves the view. She loved to sit and look at the sea and Mewstone but now we cannot afford £6 for a short stay. As the toilets are down steep stone steps and so unaccessible to anyone with mobility issues we can only stay for maximum 1 hour. By not offering a short stay of 1 hour at a reasonable charge, a local beauty spot is out of bounds for most people with mobility issues and limited income. I understand that the National Trust needs to fill its coffers but access to AONBs should not be elitist or restricted to only those who are affluent or fit enough to walk several miles accross challenging terrain.

Perfect on crisp bright January morning.
Jan 2021 • Couples
Pleasantly quiet Saturday morning, ample parking, few other walkers, bright blue sky, flat calm sea, clean beach, a couple of yachts making steady but slow progress out of the Yealm. Ideal for taking exercise from the Jan ‘21 lockdown.
