About
The Filippo Morese Farm is located at Pontecagnano in the Piana del Sele, Province of Salerno, an area that, for centuries, has bred buffaloes and produced buffalo mozzarella, which comes from the special manufacturing of its milk. Extending over approximately 80 hectares, the farm has belonged to the Morese family for centuries. In 1694 Geronimo Morese bought the Auteta Estate, and in 1754 his son Gaspare bred a herd of 166 buffaloes there. After nine generations and another three centuries, Filippo Morese continues the family tradition on the very same land. He breeds a herd of 600 buffaloes, whose milk is processed every day in the XVIII century coaching station Taverna Penta to produce: Mozzarella di Bufala Campana DOP, smoked mozzarella, ricotta, scamorza, yogurt, icecream and many other dairy products.

Very interesting visit
Sep 2019 • Couples
The visit is done by the owner of the dairy which speaks english very well, he is very nice and you can see how passionate he is about mozzarella making and his farm. At first we visited the cheese making place, then we went to the buffalos farm and at the end we even had some mozza and ricotta degustation which were absolutely delicious.
Great visit! We had such a good time!

Best mozzarella
Mar 2019 • Couples
The owner showed us around his buffalo farm, we sampled delicious mozzarella and he showed us a video of how it operates. We then drove to the shop for some yogurt ice cream. A lovely family concern which the owner is obviously proud of and rightly so. Best mozzarella I have ever tasted.

Amazing visit and tasting
Sep 2018 • Friends
We went to see the buffalo farm and then the yogurteria with an organised trip. The owner of the enterprise took time to present the buffalos and the farming procedure, then to introduce us to the mozzarella-making procedure, presenting the history of thei 400-year old family business. We could taste the buffalo mozzarella, which is great. In the yogurteria I bought ice cream made from buffalo milk, everything tastes really great.

Unique experience - we loved it!
Jun 2018 • Couples
My wife and I arranged a tour to see the mozzarella making process, as well as the farm where the buffalo are kept. What an awesome time we had. We arrived early, so had breakfast at the Yogurteria. I highly highly recommend the brioche bread with yogurt and a jam of your choice. It was simple, but one of the tastiest breakfasts I've had in a long time. The buffalo yogurt was some of the best yogurt I've had.

The tour was great too - very informative. Not only did we get to see how mozzarella is made, we also got to see the farm where the buffalo are raised. Through our tour, it became evident that there is so much that goes into the business of making good mozzarella - so much more than I'd have thought... its really impressive.

After the tour, we had a tasting of the freshest mozzarella and ricotta you can get your hands on. It was wonderful, and something I would recommend to anyone. We then had to try the gelato - different than most because of the high content of fat in the buffalo milk, but absolutely amazing flavor and texture. I can't say enough good things about this place. We will definitely be back!

We met with the owner of this farm and dairy at the family owned dairy. During a short video Phillipo fielded questions from both of us. a short drive later we were at the farm and home of some 600 Water Buffalo. I was very interested as I am a retired dairy farmer from Canada. we had a great tour and some good conversation comparing the 2 different animals that we had milked. He mentioned that his son will be the 10th generation to farm on this property. Back at the dairy we had a very nice tasting of the mozzarella and also some gelato.this was one of my highlights of the whole trip to Italy!

A fantastic excursion in Salerno
May 2017 • Couples
Having developed a taste for the Mozzarella Di Buffalo whilst staying in this area in the past, we visited a working farm and diary on a visit last year. We were keen to learn more about this fabulous cheese so booked a tour at Taverna Penta close to Salerno.

Whilst last year's visit was OK this was absolutely fantastic. Getting to see the cheese made up close, visiting the farm, listening to the owner Filipe explain the industry and his family's history in it and having our questions answered made it an informative, enjoyable visit. At the end of the two hours we tasted the various products made at the dairy whilst sitting in the courtyard beside the cheese making area and shop.

If you are interested in food ( especially Mozzarella Di Buffalo ), the history of the area, and seeing new and interesting things, this is a wonderful activity

Fantastic, informative and enjoyable tour with a delightful morning tea
Sep 2016 • Couples
We went to this charming yoghurt and cheese factory recently and enjoyed the informative tour and watching how these amazing people plied their trade. The morning tea provided as part of the tour in the charming central court garden was also very relaxing

The best food experience
Sep 2016 • Family
Being in Italy means eating well... as such, we get surprised by new flavors everyday.

Tasting the Mozzarella di Buffalo from Taverna Penta, however, is unique. So far, this has been the best in my opinion.

A must go if you visit Naples surroundings or Amalfitan Coast.
