Visited the place with a friend. Excellent. Very tranquil. Nice for a lazy afternoon. There is a good fish and chip nearby!

A beautiful day for a picnic. There are a few picnic tables on the lower level, near the children's playground. However, these were marred by a big group of drunken young people(11.am!!), who also drove their 4WD through the barriers! We made our way to the upper level (via very steep steps!)& found a lovely table in the shade. Even this area was dangerous with 2 picnic shelters covered in broken glass. What a pity for the families looking for a nice spot to have lunch with friends. We travelled to here by train - good decision as parking is at a premium.

The lower level of the park is only accessible from the top level down a rough, fairly steep path. Therefore it's not accessible for older people with mobility issues or disabled people. There's nowhere to sit on the lower level unless you bring your own chairs. This place is more suitable for younger, mobile people.

for a picnic, BBQ, swim or to go fishing .........If you can get a car park.
McKell Park fills up very quickly in the summer months especially.
However there are two levels, both of which have BBQ's and there is parking on the upper level as well.

Its a charming little harbour-hugger of a park, sitting at the end of Darling Point road with tiered gardens, manicured lawns and heritage-listed Canonbury cottage have something of the Jane Austen about them. The view is pure Harbourside

While on our start we meet a young Australia couple with their young son, mentioned that we were going to visit the view point at Mckell park, they joined us for the visit both meeting this family and the walk made the 1 hour walk very enjoyable

i came here for fathers day and it was very nice. the weather was great and it was overall a nice little picnic area. parking was extremely full at the lower area, but the higher parking area was fine, and where the walking path led to, parsley bay (which was also beautiful), was practically empty so also a good car option.
there were bush turkeys roaming around though so best not to leave your food unattended. also a nice addition would be signs that say you shouldnt feed them!! human food is not good for birds and people can be both careless about leaving food around, and unaware that birds will die from it.
the walk along the waterfront was very nice, but there were cigarette butts along the ground in some areas which was sad. please make sure to clean up all your rubbish if you come here!!
we saw some pelicans too, they were nice

Great park that is neat, clean and well kept. With views across the Hawkesbury River to Dangar Island and Little Wobby. At Lower McKell Park there is lots of parking to take advantage of its walking tracks, historical pictures and stories, picnic & bbq facilities, kids playground, clean toilets, swimming bathes with shark enclosure and a little beach. There is also Upper McKell Park which we didn't get up to.
