I visited mainly to examine a particular cannon (the 1863 Armstrong RBL, see photo below), and then spent $AUD5 and 2 hours to look through the rest of the museum. My wife, who is not particularly interested in military hardware, did likewise, and actually found the exhibits were quite interesting, and moving.
The Russian T34, the Leopard and Centurion tanks, and the British Matilda, the trucks, and particularly the WW2 Studebakers were of great interest to me.
The staff were particularly helpful, even looking p their files to tell me about the provenance of the Armstrong RBL cannon. I believe that it is one of only 2 in Australia.
2 hours was just adequate for a quick look around. Definitely on my return one day list.

This was so cool. Loved the work the museum put in, to be able to have that many vehicles and displays that look awesome. Will admit a couple of statues look like real people and it is creepy to walk past them. The information is interesting and the flags cool. My 2 year old loved the guns and the 'shark' boat. She loved looking at all the colourful displays and medals, and enjoyed looking at the uniforms.

A great example of our military history. Well worth a visit. We aren't from a military background however our 13 and 4 year old kids really enjoyed it. The only thing is it is not well sign posted that there is public access and the gatehouse and sign in process may be a little daunting for some but all totally undertake given it is a operational army barracks. The staff member was also very welcoming. Well done

I have visited many (but not all) of the Military Museums in Australia, as well as "The Tank Museum in Bovington England.
The Army Museum Bandiana is a class above most I've seen. The Tank Museum is second rate by comparison.
No the Army Museum Bandiana does not have a German Tiger 1, but they do have a wide range of exhibits I've not seen elsewhere in Australia or UK & USA.

A great museum with a heap of interesting exhibits and so much history. The building is very much larger than it looks from the outside and you'll need at least 2 hours to go through it. The staff are current servi ng members and are extremely helpful & full of interesting information.

We had a most interesting and informative time at the Military Museum. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The displays are a good balance of visual and textual material and there are many army vehicles. After a couple of hours we were rather overwhelmed so would visit again on a future occasion !

I have visited some of the great military museums around the world and I think this is up there. The building looks a lot larger inside than out. There is everything regarding Australia's military history from the earliest days to current times.
There are dozens of vehicles, of which the majority still function. Many, many display cabinets consisting of very detailed collections. There is a gallery of weapons (all deactivated) and a small gallery of medals.
I would recommend the Bandiana Museum to anyone.

Fabulous museum, with so much history to read about you run out of time in a day. I would book to go through twice so that you can take your time and soak in and read every piece of information about our Australian men and women in history.
