Our family holiday to Lorne is September was disappointing. During the school holiday period most of the retail stores were closed whilst others chose to operate reduced working hours. Getting a simple coffee proved challenging - one cafe was "too busy" to make us a coffee, whilst another insisted we wait for 15 mins until their queue of patrons dissappaited. You'd expect better customer service from a small town with big prices.

My kids spent hours playing under the watchful eyes of the lifesavers in front of the surf lifesaving club. They had a ball in this pristine beach. We than moved further down near the Lorne baths to enjoy the great kids playground.
Only downside was no showers in toilets (sea showers outside in elements though)
Parking : can be hard to come by and you may have to park on main st and walk down

Great beach with a protected surf life saver patrolled section at the western end. Long stretch of sand but limited parking on hot days. Very popular with dog walkers.

My wife and I visited Lorne during our recent holiday in Torquay where we stayed at The Sands Golf Resort for two nights.
We drove from Torquay to Lorne, making several stops along the drive to visit a few places. When we got to Lorne, we parked near the Visitor centre and walked along the beach to Lorne Pier and back again, to enjoy the scenic views, exercise, sunshine and fresh air.

One of the world’s finest town beaches.
Beautiful, family-friendly yet can surf, and a magic curve shape with point.
Never tire of visiting with family in any Victorian season.
Noosa-like yet prettier (bugger the lower temp).

Terrific beach for Boogie boarding with young kids and playing in the water. Great to be able to visit as the VIC children were just back at school, so we had a terrific run of the place, with the masses that visit during the school holidays. Beach, playpark and grassed area make Lorne beach an iconic playground for many ages, esp families with younger children.
Terrific shops along the Mountjoy pde, places to eat and shop on your break.
We also loved the fact that we had great access to hikes to do for half a day, (within 15min drive from Lorne) then hit the beach in the afternoon.

Family day out. Finished a grand tour at Lorne.
Kids on playground. Grabbed takeaway dinner to eat on beach.
Dusk light. Soaked in the view of a world-great curvaceous beach.
Moments of serenity to keep and savour after a chaotic year.

Underrated go-to spot when you wanna get out of town for the weekend. Always vibing as much as anywhere else on the coast without the pretentiousness of the other end (Portsea, Sorrento, the showpony suburbs). Hope this area stays true to itself in the future!

My wife and I stayed at The Mantra Resort for three nights during our recent holiday in Lorne. There is direct beach access (very short walking distance) from the Ocean View Apartment that we stayed at, to this beach.
We walked along this beach every day to enjoy the scenery and physical exercise.

Everyone needs to spend a day on this beach. Crystal clear water, smooth white sand and great walks along the beach
