Found this by accident as we walked around down town Colac. And what a gem this was. A great garden with some impressive landscaping. The garden combines a walking track, a great view of nearby Lake Colac and a playground for the young garden lovers.

We arrived about 6pm and were able to walk around easily - really easy walk. From what I understand, it’s possible to drive around if you attend before 4pm.

Definitely worth a look if you have a spare 30 mins.

Such beautiful gardens with old heritage-listed trees, everything beautifully manicured, flat walking paths, nice views over the Colac Lake and friendly people.

If you visit Australia, you have to visit Victoria..a lot of things there to see. Beside the famous Melbourne , there are many nice spots that you can explore, for example Colac. This blueberry pickings area is just 2 hour-driving from Melbourne. When visiting Colac in 2009, we used car..and along the way to go there you would see some nice views. For the entrance fee u only need to pay $AUD10. Afterwards, you can do self pick blueberry as much as you want. As long as you eat in the farm you can eat berries for free. But if u want to take them home, you have to pay . It is around $ 10-20 per kilograms , You also can buy frozen berry if you don't want to get tan or sweaty:). For the self-pick, the owner of the farm will give us the bucket. The best time to come is during summer (January -Maret) . Australian summer is not in June-August :) Don't forget to bring hat, sunnies and sunblock. the address of one of the farm we visited is 2460 Colac Lavers Hill Road Gellibrand 3239

I had some visitors from Sydney and decided to take a day trip to Colac and do the Otway Fly returning to Melbourne via the Great Ocean Rd we stopped off at the information centre in the town and the ladies there were most helpful. We went to the Botanical Gardens for lunch. It is situated on a beautiful lake . very pleasant surroundings and full of bird life . The gardens have all the amenities BBQ toilets etc and is well worth a stop off..

Located on the southern banks of Lake Colac this 16 HA of developed gardens was quite impressive with well established trees and paths. The land for the gardens was allocated in 1865 and the gardens established three years later and was last updated in 1910 by the Melbourne Botanical Gardens and is one of the more impressive places around the lake and in Colac.

With a number of big old trees and the lakeside location, the gardens are quite pleasant. The sign said gate closes at 4pm, but I was there close to 6pm and was able to get in.

Whether you're out for a stroll or you take a small interest in botany this is the place for you. Playground, a large area for kicking the footy and cool plants all around. Cafe in the gardens too, not many places i'd rather be in the town on a sunny day with my mates.

Had a wedding in Colac over the weekend so we thought we would kill an hour looking through the gardens. Kids weren’t real keen until they found out that you can actually drive the circuit of the gardens by car. They thought that was much better.

When we called into Colac for dinner we followed the signs to the lake & the gardens. It was a bit late to stay, so we returned on Sunday morning.and loved it. The gardens are peaceful, well laid out and very pretty. We walkwd through, down to Lake Colac. Great walk, saw pelicans, flying foxes and a whistling kite ...bonus. this has inspired me to visit more of these "drive through" towns in victoria.
