We visited the lake while camping in Colac. This lake is special. Unfortunately, the walking options are limited (we found one spot where we could park and walk about 1km next to the water) but it was enough to be impressed. Lot's of birds. We didn't see the red reflection due to overcasting but it looks good on other peoples photos

The lake itself you’ll find either beautiful or boring. It’s a bird mecca with many species attracted by brine shrimp. The creeks that flow into lake are great for fishing when running. The best way to enjoy is too circumnavigate lake from cressy down thru foxhow and all the way too pirron yallock and alvie. along the way you will see many w wetlands and the picturesque stone rises. the stone rises are w style fences made from local stones in the 1800s.
TIP: pick up info at colac info centre eg access points and maps

This is one of the largest lakes around Victoria. When its full, you can get some great views and do some boating and fishing at strategically placed sites around it. You need a map though as it is huge and takes a few hours to drive all the way around it. There is a hill on the west side (forget the name) where you can drive up and get some good photos and views.

It is a large lake right in the Colac township but the waterfront area is not at all attractive and little has been done to develop the area visited.

The views are amazing. It's a beautiful lake. Alot of different bird species. Worth the drive. For those that love taking photos plenty of opportunities.

Enjoyed an exploratory drive around Colac. Corangamite lake worth a visit.
A huge salty expanse of water … and full. Wow, ain’t the climate grand!
