we arrived here on a wet and windy January day - and the place was pretty deserted. it's free to enter and so it the nearby carpark. blowhole is ok if this is just somewhere to break up a longer journey. beach views and the local walk was pretty nice. had a light snack in the town - the local bakery sells award winning pies (we had the delicious beef pie and the superb chicken and camembert!) and the fruit crumble slice was pretty good too! lots of available free parking in the town

Short walk from car park. Great thing to do and honestly we could have watched it for hours. You could easily see it from a few short steps from the car park. You certainly want to have a bit of agility to hop across the rocks to get as close as possible but anyone of any ability could spot it from the accessible walkway from the car park. Gorgeous views and cost nothing

The weather and ocean were so benign that we were able to get close to the blowhole. We could hear the air pressure under but little happened above the rocks. Finally, after approx. 15 minutes I noticed a larger swell approaching and aimed the camera to be rewarded with a meter high spray and shortly afterwards another. Larger waves are necessary for a better geyser display. Great rock formation, very similar to those seen at the Bay of Fires. The blowhole is very close to a large diamond shaped rock that stands proud on the rock outcrop.

It really interesting to see kids love it and so do the adults,

It’s a real sense of excitement when the blowhole is about to blow.

Can be up and down in size depending on the ride and waves but it’s nice to see. It only a few minutes drive from highway so turn in and have a look.

It’s nice to come across a tourist destination which is free. The blow hole was spectacular view and as long as you were sensible on the rocks with the kids, quite safe. We found the best way to get a photo on this morning was to the photographer stand against the rock with the subject between you and the blow hole.

This blowhole was quite impressive on the evening that we saw it as the sea was quite rough with a good swell from the east.

The racks were all pretty wet & slippery so didn’t venture too close, but you don’t need to, to enjoy the show.

Kidd would love it.

Easy free parking nearby.

The Bicheno Blow Hole is worth a visit on a day when the wind is blowing and the swell is high. We visited on a day when the wind and the blow hole were blowing spectacularly. We revisited it the next day and all was calm - luck of the draw I guess. The Blow Hole is just a short distance from a small car park.

It wasn't high tide when we visited but we were still treated to an amazing display. We stayed for 30mins watching the blowhole, whilst the kids clambered over the orange-lichen-covered rocks. One of the best blowholes I've seen.

We took some American friends to the blowhole hoping it would be worth the visit. It was indeed; the windier/bigger the swell the more spectacular the blow. You need to be able to hop across large boulders to get close to the hole itself - not an activity for very small children or those who are frail or infirm. It can be slippery where the wash covers the rocks, so care is needed. You might also need to be prepared to get wet! The less adventurous can stand back and admire the blow from a greater distance. An hour we’ll spent.
