A very good example of early life on KI and well worth the visit. Interesting facts about teh first settlers and how they managed to scratch a living off the island. Plenty of artefacts to view and very good volunteers who provided lots of information.

Faith, Hope and Charity were 3 houses atop the hill in Kingscote. Faith is gone, Hope is the museum, and Charity is still a residence. As museums go, not a star attraction, but for a tiny remote community they have done pretty well. They have...More

This is not to be missed, particularly if you are interested in artifacts of the pioneers. Well presented. The older you are, the more items you will remember, and if you are young, contemplate how things used to be! A very impressive collection.

Located on the outskirts of the town, this museum is well worth a visit. The front garden is small but colourful and well looked after. Hope Cottage was built around 1860 partly by a ship’s carpenter. You can see possible evidence of his handiwork in...More

An extremely well laid out and fascinating museum full of the history of the cottages and giving great insight into the history of Kingscote. The volunteer guide was charming and had great knowledge which she shared with enthusiasm.

A very interesting museum, depicting the lives of the early settlers on Kangaroo Island. A huge variety of items, including the fishing industry, farming implements, a lighthouse, cars etc. Dedicated volunteers deserve to be congratulated on the superb presentation of items on show.
