Mooloolaba is a great place for a beach holiday. I normally walk to Cartwright's Point or Alexandra Heads every day early to start the day. The beach is very safe with competent life guards, the aquarium is a must see and I rate it above the one in Cairns. The strip as plenty of excellent eating places and I usually go to Entice. The food at the surfers restaurant is great with amazing views and if you want to make money try their pokies!! I normally go at Easter or October and the weather is always good. A great place for young families - I will always give it a 5 star rating.

This is a great beach area with the famous .."Loo with a View" (for our overseas guests ( "Loo". is Australian slang for Toilet)
It is so nice that occasionally P & O stop by on the odd cruise and bring their guests ashore for the day,
It is a patrolled beach with numerous restaurant and high rise accommodation apartments, Hotels along its foreshore, as well as the Mooloolaba Surf Life Saving Club. Also the newly refurbished and built Caravan Park along the Boardwalk area.
The restaurants vary from upmarket (catering to various cuisine styles) to takeaways and coffee bars.
As stated this beach is patrolled and you should ALWAYS swim between the flags - this area is selected by the Surf Lifesavers that is safe from deadly rips and they monitor it from the watch tower. Make your holiday a safe one.
Parking is currently a real problem, but there is a multi level car park behind the front line of accommodation apartments/Hotels near to Brisbane Road being constructed.
The beach is well utilised with pop up volleyball courts being put in on various early evenings with great lighting as the evening progresses and open to all to participate. It has children play areas and occasionally trampolines are set up on the beach for all ( including small children to use , but it is pay to play
It is the start of the Mooloolaba Boardwalk which runs from Mooloolaba Beach to the Spit a well constructed walkway with overhead lighting making it accessible 24/7 and used extensively by dogs and their walkers, people walking for exercise, joggers and the odd bike rider and skate boarder ( the latter two are advised in one section to not ride them. Walking at a steady pace it takes about 45- 60 minutes to do the round trip if you start from the Loo with a View.
On New Years Eve the area is used to stage firework displays and it is used once a year for their Triathlon.
In general this is great for couples, Family with young and Teen aged children and solo ( but its better with someone by your side - even your dog) I visit this place often on average about once a fortnight over the course of 12 months

We were staying in Mooloolaba and went to the beach quite often.
I would leave our apartment at dawn and walk along the beach taking sunrise shots.
Can’t wait until the new coastal pathway is complete which should be fabulous.
It is wonderful to see so many people of all ages enjoying Mooloolaba Beach from dawn to dusk. Whether people a swimming out back, surfing, body surfing, paddle boarding, training with the surf boats or playing volleyball on the beach courts there is something for everyone. And if you just wish to sit and enjoy the scene there are lots of seats and even a great kids park for the little ones.
The coastal track continues along behind the beach which has lovely shady trees and you are more than likely to catch a sighting of a Brush Turkey.
The beach is patrolled in two places and there is a plastic runner allowing access to wheelchairs to the water’s edge.

A large portion was fenced off to allow remedial sand works to be done after the recent storms. Wide sand stretches, gentle slope into the water and with a small swell when we were there made it the ideal choice for families. There is a pathway alongside the beach park and some of the structures alongside the beach offer protection should a rain cloud suddenly appear. Plenty of people "working" from the park benches/tables while taking in the view and i can understand why.

Walk along the exposed rocks or take a walk in the sand. It’s a busy place especially at dusk when the walkers and joggers are out, and families are on the beach playing in the shallow water. What a great are to bring up kids.

Sun, sand, sea and surf. Mooloolaba Beach has it all. Blue sky, blue sea, good surf as well as a nice quieter bay where there is less and more family friendly wave action.
The esplanade cafe strip is only 5 mins away. The Loo With A View is a nice spot to look over the beach and watch family members and friends, use the clean toilets and showers. Great bbq facilities are also available.

Lovely for a walk on anytime of the day. There is now a fabulous new boardwalk built and is great for walking on. There is section where bike riders are supposed to dismount but there are a lot of riders who ignore the signs so beware, when you walk on this section, of fast moving bikes. Just recently the council has been doing more great upgrades to the picnic areas which will be ready soon.

In lockdown in Mooloolaba, we frequent this beach most days, irrespective of the weather which has been wonderful.
There are several car parks along the town side of the beach and as it extends out onto the Spit. There are two designated zones protected by lifeguards, one in the centre of the town and one along the Spit.
We usually walk the complete length of the beach, 2 kilometres each way, at the waters edge to stretch the legs and what a wonderful way to get some excercise. Stunning views, clear blue water and hardly any people.
Shallow water, great for children of all ages, and lots of nice belly boarding waves. An ideal beach. If I could design a family beach this would be it. Recommended

This beach is very beautiful and relaxing.
While on holidays, I would recommend having a nice day out here for beach swim, sunbathe, volleyball and for romantic strolls too.
There are a good number of restaurants and shops which can cater for a variety of shopping experiences.
There is also convenient changing rooms and lifeguards on stand by.

This beach was beautiful. So many wonderful shops and restaurants nearby, with parks for the kids and great amenities. I just happened to be there when the weather was really bad which affected the quality of the ocean. Due to heavy rains and wind, the water was dirty, murky and really not pleasant. But when it would clear, all you are left with as crystal clear blue water with amazing waves.
I would strongly recommend this beach. It is absolutely beautiful.

Sunshine coast airport (MCY) or Brisbane Airport (BNE). From Brisbane you have to catch a train and a bus.

We are coming for Christmas Day breakfast on the beach, we know there are BBQ’s there however we are concerned that they will be very busy! Can you bring your own disposable BBQ’s with you to the beach?

No you won't be able too bring your own barby. Best to have some kind soul go and claim a vacant one, if there is one, at around 3pm. You could also try the river front at Cotton Tree, there are a few more there. Or further north of Maroochydore, on the Maroochy River front.....bonus....amazing sunsets.
Happy Christmas. ...

Is Mooloolaba Beach dog friendly

Dogs are no longer allowed on the beach at all, even on leash, this has been a recent change by the local council. But the park along the beach and the walking track is on leash dog friendly and so are most of the cafes.

Hi, plan to visit Mooloolaba beach, during our trip to Australia on 05-Dec (Saturday).
Reading from the feedback, we can have BBQ there?
Wonder if we need to book the BBQ pit and where can we get information, such as booking, payment ant etc.
Will it be too hot during evening time, around 5pm

Hi - yes there are a limited number of BBQ's on the beach. If you google image Loo with a View, Mooloolaba, you will see the main tourist structure, built around the public toilets! The BBQ's are in the park just south of the Loo. I don't believe there are any opportunities to book them - first in, first served. Most people are happy to share them. There is a walkway/cycle path that extends (with a couple of detours) for 20km south to Caloundra, and effectively 50km north to Noosa. There are BBQ's at various spots along the path. If you are here in summer holidays, and you are driving a car, get to the beach early - definitely before 10.00 am to get a carpark. School holidays are december - mid January. Lots of people come up from Brisbane so it gets crowded. Don't expect good accomodation deals at this time. As for the BBQ, if you can't get one at Mooloolaba beach, walk south along the path towards the Spit (good fish and chip shops too), as there are more BBQ's there. Enjoy your visit.
