We went to the Gympie Mining Museum today and the visit started very nicely with a walk from the carpark near Lake Alford. This spot is delightful with all manner of birds accosting the visitors for food and judging by their size, they are quite successful. The best of the birds were the baby black swans who were grey and... More

Great display recording the history of Gympie - in particular the role played by John Nash's discovery of gold. Spent several hours browsing through the many exhibits. Well maintained by group of dedicated volunteers. Rustic cafe -good food - good service.

Spend a few hours enjoying this great historical museum. All ages will enjoy the displays which are maintained by a wonderful group of volunteers. Cafe on site serves hot & cold drinks & light mesls. Take part in gold panning. It's a great day out.

Spent 1 1/2 hours here on a Friday during school holidays with three kids under ten. There were loads of things to look at and some things, like the old ambulance etc, were beautifully restored. The only disappointing thing was there were no staff around to help with extra tidbits of information, or to help the kids with panning for... More
