Such a wonderful estate in which to wander. We chose to visit when the spring flowers were at their best. It would be a wonderful place to visit when the autumn trees are changing as well. Make sure to explore the house with its wonderful art deco designs both in and out. We loved the octagonal bath tub! The gardens have "rooms" to visit - rhododendron area, azalea are, lawns dotted with huge trees and a babbling brook, which then becomes a small waterfall in the man made grotto. The vistas into the distance remind one that one is in the mountains. We are very glad that the National Trust is keeping the place in shape for all the public to see. Covid requires booking as numbers in the garden are limited.…

House would have been breathtaking and innovative in its time. Well worth the visit. National trust staff were very helpful and informative, happy to answer our questions. Unfortunately the weather did not permit a good look around the gardens but they were clearly amazing, evident from our walk to the house. A decadent relic of a bygone era. Highly recommend.…
