There is no doubt the Blue Mountains deserve their world Heritage title. It is a hikers paradise and for that reason it will always attract my attention and I will come back for more. Another bonus is that getting there by train is fantastic with a very scenic and comfortable 2 hr train journey costing an amazingly low $ 7.00. However, next time I will chose my times and it will not be a long weekend but rather during the quieter week. It was the recent June long weekend and the crowds and traffic were phenomenal. Even the number of hikers on the beautiful Grand Canyon hike was mind blowing. Great to see so many people exercising but next time I will chose a quieter time. Another observation, I love trying out local cafes in the towns after a long walk. I was staggered at the number of cafes closing at 3pm. At this time the streets were still packed with people. Whatever was still open had queues out into the street. One potentially inviting “ French “ cafe in Katoomba not only closed at 3.00pm but only doing take away coffees from 2.30pm. At 2.40 pm we ordered doe take away coffee, I witnessed several people enter and leave around 2.45pm when told it was only take away coffee. I am not sure what the businesses are thinking. I know it is hard work running a cafe but on a long weekend surely they would want to do business with all those tourists, it just didn’t make sense.

There's at least 2 full days of touring in the Blue Mountains. We came by train (approx 2 hours) from Central and relied on public transport quite easily, though sometimes frustrating to get a taxi as there are very few operators postCOVID. Public buses out to Medlow Bath and down to Leura run hourly which may not suit everyone. There are some excellent little restaurants here both for lunch and dinner time and you don't have to spend a fortune.

Spent the entire day hiking the trails of the Blue Mountains! It was fantastic! The outcrops, the overhead cliffs, the falls, all around was beautiful. A great visitor center in South Katoomba, too. It was rainy in the early morning, so the trails were pretty muddy - definitely recommend boots durning July.

We had the opportunity to spend 6 weeks in this wonderful area, enjoying cooler days and nights compared to the coast. there are many towns to enjoy, Leura being our favourite, plenty of parking, wonderful eateries, like Leura gourmet 9the lambs fry is to die for and Leura Chinese, (like going back to the 80's), further up the road is Mt Vic, definitely worth a visit, home to the Mt Vic Flics, old style cinema, showing arty movie.

Of course the biggest attractions are the various lookouts, which we never got bored of, absolutely stunning scenery.

This is one of my favorite locations in Sydney and perhaps globally! The views are incredible, especially from the main viewing point, and also from other points within the vicinity. I thought that the 'blue' mountains would not really appear blue but they actually do. The other features such as waterfalls and dense forest make the experience even greater. We have visited twice; once getting the train from Sydney CBD and another time via driving; the train is quite long but still worth it!

We were very excited to experience everything the Blue Mountains had to offer and booked the excursion with our tour company. Unfortunately it rained all day and we could not see anything due to the fog. Our all day excursion did have a couple other stops, so the day was not a complete waste. We rode the Scenic Railway, which they say is the world’s steepest perpendicular railway cable car. The ride was relatively short and because of the weather we did not see anything riding the Railway or the Scenic Skyway. They had a very nice gift shop and café. We ended up buying a couple postcards of the attractions we were hoping to view – definitely not as great as seeing the real thing. Tip: Do not go on this tour if it is a misty or foggy day.

Great place to walk through rain forests. Fabulous views from the Lookout points too. We started out from Echo Point and took the Giant Staircase path towards Scenic World. Note: Giant Staircase has 1000 steps. I think this was the best direction in which to do the walk, if you did it in the other direction they estimate 45 mins to climb the steps. We then took the Scenic Railway back up (cost $25 each, one way). Altogether, it took about 2 half hours to get back to where we started. The path through the rain forest has many leeches, so closed in shoes are preferable or the use of deet. Highly recommended.

Four of us took a short hike (15-20 minutes) to the Wentworth Falls Lookout platform, to view the falls from across the gorge. The falls was a bit of a disappointment, as it was more of a water glide than an actual falls. However, on the way back to the car we took a side trail to the Undercliff Trail, and that section was really fascinating! The trail was almost entirely UNDER the face of a cliff. The well maintained trail was in a recess of the cliff and followed the curvature of the mountain. After an easy hike for about 20 minutes we took a connector trail back to the car park. The main trail continued on for another 30-40 minutes or so. We REALLY enjoyed the trail and it's unique views and location.

As Sydney opened up. we took this opportunity to visit and stay in BM for 4 days. To our surprise. not all restaurants open here at BM. and the ones that open are lets say every day from 5 -8:30( like 4 hrs open only) And then most do not do delivery. Re cabs. people have not heard of Uber. only Katoomba taxi works here. Locals are very friendly. many walking tracks (especially around 3 sisters) are closed off. and have not been maintained. Summary: It seems Blue mountain business is not ready for or are Ill-prepared for people being back.

The Blue Mountains is a rugged range not too far from Sydney. They can be explored both as day trips or multi - day trips. Its scenery is pretty dramatic. Cliffs & waterfalls coexist with villages & amusement parks.

This is a great place for bush-walking.
