Here’s a great example of a company working with local business in a way that doesn’t seem like a complete sell job. Yes, some of the stops on the tour just happen to be sponsors, which isn’t the main attraction. But it works. Tip: Consider...More

nice hop on/hop off bus tour of Blue Mountains. Drivers were friendly, and gave good commentary. We got the Scenic world add on, and was disappointed -- Scenic World was jammed with people, which made the experience not as fun.

Instead of using the private Blue Mountains Explorer double deck buses, we used the route 686 Blue Mountains Transit public route bus (686) that runs every 15 minutes compared to the 'explorer buses' that while charging far more, run only every half an hour. The...More

I am used to Hop on Hop off buses having a bit of commentary about the history or the sights. Pretty much the only commentary was a physical description of the bus stops we approached so you can find the bus when it returns again....More

The ability to hop on and off as desired throughout the day was great, all drivers were friendly. I would live see hours extended to maybe 6 to 6.30pm on months where daylight hours are strong until 8-830pm, gives more time to see more without...More

This is a great way to get an idea of the best spots to visit in the Blue Mountains. There are 27 stops along the route which lasts about 1 1/4 hours if you stay on the bus the whole way round but of course...More

First, the saleswoman overcharged me for the combo scenic world + bus pass. I opened the brochure that showed a lower price, and she quickly said "Oh we didn't change the prices in the brochures, but I'll give you the lower price." Um, ok. I...More

Rip off. We spent maybe 14 minutes on the bus for $50. All the rest was hiking. Main stops can be accessed for $2 per stop. As a tourist we could easily have navigated ourselves.More

For $50 the bus does a 5km loop that you can also do on a similar 30 minute public bus for ~$2 per person/ stop. Rode the bus for probably 10 minutes total. Seemed like the tourist office was overselling it as well. The views...More

Hi khimms. The Lyrebird Pass is 83AUD and covers the Explorer Bus Pass and Scenic World entry. You can use the bus to hop on and off all day at any of the stops, including Leura. Buses are every 30 minutes.

Go to scenic world first before the crowds. Don’t ride the full loop. Do your research ahead of time where you want to go or talk to the drivers who are full of info.
