I've seen similar peace bells around the world and they tend to be bigger and have a whole lot of other stuff around it. This is just a bell (very similar to the one in the Japanese garden) by a road.

Learning the background to this bell and also that there are many throughout the world made from donated coins, was interesting. The bell itself is beautifully made, and it was great that we were encouraged to ring it, in the name of peace.

It is not what I would call a major tourist attraction, but more of a local display close to the town centre. The bell does chime and you can pull the cord to ring the bell. There is a sensor with pre-recorded announcement describing the...More

Amazing to think this is just sitting in the middle of a country town! It is very well looked after. The commentary is triggered as you walk up to the bell - you are free & urged to ring the peace bell & the sound...More
