Looking for a sail and snorkel option, and mindful of our budget, we selected the Derwent Hunter after getting some advice from the visitor center. One of the deciding factors was that it was one of the longer, day cruises at a rate most others were charging for a half-day on a power boat. We set sail early in the... More

This was a brilliant day out. The skipper was funny and informative. Learning about the history of the ship was great. As was having the chance to help with putting the sails up/down. The crew were knowledgeable and very helpful. Mum was a very reluctant snorkeller after a bad experience 2 years earlier but the team made sure that she... More

There were 40 guests, which felt like at least 10 people too many for the size of the boat. Kids were running around with little attention from their adults (can't blame the boat/crew for that--just too many inattentive parents, or maybe they should limit the number of kids allowed each day?). The crew members were knowledgeable and did get the... More

We had a fabulous time out on the Derwent Hunter. Even though our weather was not perfect, we enjoyed the experience of sailing on a tall ship, floating around the islands, hearing the history of the ship and the islands and snorkeling. The crew is experienced and committed to showing you a great time in the water! We loved it.... More

Even though the weather wasn't good we have a great time on the Derwent Hunter. The crew was really funny, knew a lot about the Whitsunday Islands and the coral reefs and the whole trip was well organized. There was plenty of food, included chocolate cake for morning tea and a big lunch. All the snorkling gear was included and... More

Had day out on 24th this month, weren't disappointed. The crew were so pleasant and informative about the ship and Whitsundays. Snorkeling was amazing, food all day ... Helped with the sails on way back in. Spotted whales through the day. A must do experience

Last week we enjoyed a voyage on the Derwent Hunter, even assisting with the sailing. The trip attracted a friendly bunch of passengers to compliment the fantastic crew. The snorkelling was a highlight, we saw plenty of tropical fish and even a turtle. We would highly recommend the Derwent Hunter for anyone wishing to get out on the water. Thank... More
