54 Km south of Puyuhuapi on right hand side (when driving south) you will see a small sign "Bosque Encantado". If you get to a junction (paved roads) you missed it by 4.6 Km, it is worthwhile to trun back. The hike in the enchanted forest is a relatively short hike, 2 hours each way and it combines walking in a tropical rain forest, crossing a river, clinbing to see the hanging glacier from the the south, some cascades..... Be preparted with warm cloth because towards the end of the trail there is a climb and it can become windy. We hiked the Torres, the Fitz Roy and others -- this short hike is the one that combined the largest variety of sceenery. Recommended!!

Qeulat National Park offers a tremendous example of cold-climate rainforest. Glaciers, cascades and waterfalls, rainforest, it has it all. For who is willing to face the not-always-friendly climate, this remote location is great. In particular, I recommend the climb up the "Bosque Encantado" trail. It is indeed enchanting!

We took a day trip from Puyuahape with a local tour company. that only dropped off and picked up (no guide). First stop was at the Enchanted Forest - a moist, magical forest where gremlins and elves must live. An hour's walk takes you to where the glacial waterfalls drop into the river. Take all your wet weather gear.
Then to the Hanging Glacier, where a short walk takes you to the jetty from where you can view the glacier, but pay and extra $6 for the boat trip to get closer. After seeing several glaciers already (Serrano, Perito Merina, Upsala) we still found this one stunning.
Unfortunately Tripadvisor can't seem to cope with my photos! Shame.
Quelat is a lovely national park and there is a lot of work being done to improve the camping grounds and facilities. Many backpackers travelling through the area, but having difficulty hitching rides in their groups. Better off travelling singly if you want to hitch. Not many buses passing through the area but they do have daily departures. Again, tour company in town will only go out to the park if you have a minimum number - be prepared for frustration and delays. Don't be in a hurry, but be determined and you will get there. It's worth it. Better if you can afford to hire a car through this area.

Eerwah Vale… are you near Noosa? We are Cooran/Glass House Mountains based! We are planning to go to Chile in November/December/January.
From Punta Arenas we are considering a flight to Balmaceda, and exploring the area before heading back up north to Pucon/Volcano hike.
Do you have any handy tips or recommendations for anything in between these two destinations. There are two of us and we are experienced hikers & mountain climbers (non-technical)
