It's not well signed posted so difficult to find and the site was relatively small with little to see but it's interesting to see an example of a later trench, which included upside down A-frames and duckboards to improve drainage. The site doesn't have a...More

In the middle or a commercial trading estate and a bit smelly but really worth popping to see as it gives a really good explanation of trench systems. If you go to the Ypres Flanders Fields museum afterwards, you will see all the artifacts they...More

It's not the biggest tench to see, but it is worth the visit. You have to drive out from the town centre, it's located near the canal but modern day means that it's now surrounded by an industrial estate. Part of the estate is a...More

This is a small site in the middle of a industrial district. Some of the reviewers complained about the smell, about the water in some of the trenches, etc. We, from this distance in time, can't begin to imagine what it was like for those...More

Interesting context for early in the Great War and where the allied front line was in the early part of the war.

This is not a tourist attraction with lots of information and it doesn't have a cafe or much car parking. It is surrounded by an industrial estate but it is a significant archaeological site and well worth a visit. There are parts of the original...More

We stopped here as part of a tour of local war sites and memorials. As many others have stated the site itself is pretty small and located in an industrial estate. It is surrounded by trees so is easy to miss from the road. This...More

It’s something that brings the war home to you, but…a couple of things to point out.. It is located as you can see from all the pictures that have been posted, in the middle of a very large industrial estate. It is only a couple...More

This well preserved World War I trench and dugout is a "must see" for any history buff. There cannot be many of these 100 year old battle areas left.

I was touring through the battlefields area, not on a tour, losely following the 'poppy trail' when I came across it. En route to Ypres, it was an interesting diversion.
