Be careful for falling rocks and crazy drivers. Dominican drivers are aggressive and have no respect for any laws. It's a pretty drive, but scary. Watch out for falling rocks. If not totally confident in driving in 3rd world countries, it might not be for you to try

This road has a beautiful view and is a lot safer than the way through the mountains. You can save around 25 minutes + gas just by taking this road. Tge beautiful sightseings and photo stops makes it worth the toll fee.

If you have visited the DR you will know traffic laws are not followed by most. However, if you have a rental car like I did you get pull over for going over 10 mph over the speed limit. No joke. I think the police are corrupted and it should not be.

Dominican roads are not the best to try it on your own. I am dominican and went with family which they drove the full trip. Tolls were some 1500DRPesos; and equivalent of 33$USDollar (45-1). On our way back we left through San Isidro and saved an 500$DRPesos toll. They have rice cultives, barns, food sites, limon waterfalls-which you have to... More

I think it says it all. It is a toll road and it is pretty darn expensive. The toll booth was basically a shack as the main one they built was not being used and I couldn't figure out why. Honestly it looked like they built it in the wrong place.

I was advised about this road, but had no idea how much curves and mountains you have to go throught to be able to get to Las Terrenas. But the view was Amazingggggg, the nature beauty is just out of this world, at the end is so worth it, you just have to be careful

The most expensive tolls in the world, you have to go through 4-5 toll stations to get in and out and of Las Terrenas (Samana), you have to pay $ 1,008 DR ($22.40 U.S) to get in and then the same to get out.. Be careful drivers have not consideration, Curtesy driving is not on their DNA.

We found that this was a beautifully made road, its curves and hills make it very interesting. all through the drive you are in awe of the natural beauty of that region, and I specially love the way the mountain and the sea play "peek-a-boo", breathtaking!

This one 20 km +/- stretch of highway has a $12 toll on it! Even the French, who are used to paying exorbitant tolls are taken aback. It is clear that the road was expensive to build, but the tolls charged are WAY out of line for the value received. Sort of like the "Lexus Lanes" they've built around DC.... More
