Off the beaten path, but a short drive from Barcelona or Tarragona, Montfalco is a walled village of 15 or so houses and a church, important in the medieval age for its location, besieged many times. There are now only a few buildings occupied, much of it is crumbling, but entering the gates you go back in time and experience a different world. It has one only one place that we saw to stay in, and one restaurant that had exquisite food and charm to spare. This place was a highlight of a two-week trip to the Barcelona area and, on our last day, the icing on the cake.
