- Jess S26 contributionsAn Arrowtown Must Do!!!A group of four of us hired electric bikes from Arrowtown Bike Hire for a half day. We decided to do the Arrow River Bridges trail from Arrowtown to the Kawarau Bridge. It took us about an hour and 20 mins to get there but only an hour back! The bridges were so cool - a bit scary at first but once we'd got the hang of them it was so fun. Highly recommend the e-bikes, they were super easy to use and gave us a nice boost up the hills. Would have been a lot longer and harder without them. One of the best things I've done in the area and was super impressed with Arrowtown Bike Hire. Thank you!!!Hey Jess, sounds like a great day! Must be about time I stopped working at the shop and got out on the trails myself a bit more to see what everyone is talking about. Makes us supper happy you enjoyed your experience. Thank you for taking the time to review. Happy trails. - Simon Brokenshire1 contributionGreat service; highly recommend ABHGreat people to deal with. Fantastic service. Despite the hard times covid has thrown at these guys their generosity and service was above and beyond. We hired bikes for a full day, biked for 5+ hrs managing 60km; but were only charged for a 1/2 day. The bikes were great. Good variety of bikes well maintained and in good condition. Would use ABH again without hesitationThanks Team for the great review! Glad we could be part o your ride experience. Next time your passing drop in for a coffee, it's on me this time. Thanks again and safe riding.Written March 28, 2021This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2021Written March 21, 2021
- Tamo14Auckland, New Zealand14 contributionsArrowtown Bike HireWe would highly recommend this for a great way to explore the Arrowtown and Gibbston area. The team at Arrowtown Bikes are easy to deal with, we were in and on our bikes within 15 minutes. The bikes are in good condition and there is an easy to follow trail from Arrowtown following the beautiful Arrow River Trail and out to Gibbston. The trail is easy to manage and easily achievable with a 1/2 day rental but a full day gives you more time to stop along the way.Wow, thank you for the great review! You have said it all. It makes our day when we know our client's are having a great time. We hope we can see you again soon! The trails around Arrowtown are good to ride on and ventured out to AJ Hackett Bridge jump and explore the rivers and open countryside. I rode the Arrowtown River Bridges trail that includes a couple of suspension bridge crossings and the Bungy Jump (original AJ Hackett) where you can stop and watch people doing the Bungy Jump when operating. A complete introduction on the electric bike works and a map of the trails was supplied. An excellent way to see the countryside with the ability to stop when and wherever you like to take photos, rest. - Kasey20Wellington, New Zealand57 contributionsNice in the winter! We chose a lovely winters day, sorted out very quickly and accomodating to the different sizes or changes we may have needed from our original online booking. Hire was easy and we chose to stick to the river trail with 3 young kids. Would have completed it but our littlest man was battling with freezing fingers (bring gloves if coming in the winter!!!) Next time for the winter we may hire a little later as it was just a bit cold still at 10am midday would have been perfect. Also bring gloves I just didn't think of it! My eldest asked if next time we come down we do it for longer so it was a WIN for the family!Hey Kasey, Thank you for joining us for a ride and thank you for putting up some great feedback for future clients to consider. Yes it can be cold, and that is one reason our winter hours are 10am-4pm. Some days are colder than others and that is to be expected. Today is very mild with no frost! As I mentioned we do have gloves for sale, (and I did suggest that morning having a coffee and starting your ride a bit later). I expect you where on time constraints. For riders comfort we also rent wind breaker jackets to help keep riders warm and clean. These can be added when booking through our website or at the shop. So future clients, please be assured we are super flexible should you wish to slide your booking due to weather or temperature. And yes unfortunately the best clear winter days normally start with a frost! So Kasey, for taking the time to write a review I will give you 50% discount when you come back for that 'longer ride'. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Half on e-bikes which are worth every cent (I wouldn't do it any other way). Platter & wine tasting at Gibbston Winery for some and Pizza at the Gibbston Tavern for others. We used the shuttle collection service for those that didn't want to cycle back. Everyone happy! Plenty of advise & support from our Arrowtown Bike Hire host. Hired two standard mountain bikes and took a ride out through Mill rook and loop of Lake Hayes.
Lovely 16km ride mostly easy but one nasty climb on the track back up from the lake to Millbrook. Still totally ridable.
Beautiful views across the lake to the Remarkables.
Arrowtown Bike Hire staff were friendly and provided well maintained bikes.

Thanks Ian for taking the time to review. Yes Christine's Hill does need a special mention! But she is a fantastic person! At least it is a short ascent. Glad you enjoyed the view from the top. Safe rides. Adin

We had previously used Arrowtown Bike Hire and had a good experience. I needed to find an activity for a group of 30 for a Saturday afternoon and rang Adin. He made an excellent suggestion for the group to do a loop from Arrowtown and end up at The Winery back in Arrowtown. This fitted with our timeframe, logistics and type of group. A great afternoon was had by all. Thanks

Great place to hire an electric bike from which we got with a tow behind child trailer for our little one. When we started the rear tire was a little flat which we noticed 500m from the place so we popped back and they swapped the bike which was no issue.
Also weren't sure how our daughter would go in the trailer and whether we would need to cut short our ride but they were really understanding and said that if we came back early they would amend our booking no issue at all. Highly recommend hiring from these guys again and a great location to start your bike ride from.

Hey team, it was great to meet you and supper happy you had a good day. Sorry about the flat tyre but glad you let us know so we could change the bike for you. Flexibility is our halmark, as at the end of the day it has to be a fun time on the bike-especially for kids otherwise what's the point? Thanks again for stopping by, and have a great summer! Adin, Alex and Mikayla.

Hi, I am planning for cycling begins at the Kawarau Suspension Bridge to Gibbston the 'Valley of Vines then back with bike shuttle. How long is the cycling trail? Thx

Hi! We recommend cycling from Arrowtown to Gibbston Valley rather than starting at the Suspension Bridge. It will take between 1.5-2 hours. It is a beautiful track and you can order shuttle and return to Arrowtown by pick up. The trail is very family friendly to ride. Hope this helps :)

Hi,
Just wondering are there bikes for all ages or can adults fit children on their bikes? We have two children 6 and 4 years old and would love to go but dont think they can go too far so I would rather go with options of having 2 bikes and riding children
Abante

Hi there
Thank you for your inquiry.
Yes we have bikes suitable for towing your children.
We have a trailer which would carry your 4yr old and a tag along which would suit your 6 year old. The tag along enables the child to pedal like on a tandem and then they can rest when they want to. We also have bike seats for younger children.
Many thanks
