    Terrific historic township
This terrific little historic gold mining town is always full of meandering tourists so be careful driving, especially down the one way main street. most visitors seem more interested in taking selfies than avoiding being run over. Although there is plenty to spend you cash on, it is an historic town so don't neglect the museum. If you are self driving you can access off State Highway 6 but driving via Shotover Gorge or Lake Hayes offers a more picturesque option. Parking off Ramshaw Lane (on the river side of the main street) offers 2 hour free parking. There may also be other sites but I didn't need to look further.

    Quaint tidy Village
Only 30 mins drive from Queenstown. We found a park on the main street -60 minutes free parking. The museum is $10 entry & the Chinese settlement (from the gold rush days) is free. The main street has 30+ heritage houses that now house coffee shops, galleries and clothing shops. Everything is aimed at the tourists with beautiful NZ merino /possum jumpers $200 - $600! Ample places for lunch and plenty of toilets. We stayed for 3 hours of browsing.

    Great day out
Had a great day out. The museum is a must see as very extensive and uniquely presented array of items on display. The variety of shops and eateries caters for all tastes. The Chinese sector is very interesting and a testament to their pioneering spirit. If travelling from Queenstown for a day out the travel by bus using the B Card is excellent value with a good service. Enjoy.

Gorgeous little town to spend a day. We took a walk along the river before having coffee at one of the cafe's. Quaint little town full of history. Spent an hour or so in the museum which is well set up and full of interesting information about the towns gold mining roots.

We loved Arrowtown, with its quirky little houses and boutique shops. We loved the vibe of the Sweet shop was like going back a few decades. The Museum is certainly worth going to, such a cheap entrance fee for so much history and information about the area. Wonderful kiwi books to buy there. Great for young and old!!

We were really looking forward to our visit . We were disappointed to find a lot of the businesses closed. It was a Monday and signs seemed to indicate that a lot are closed Monday and Tuesday. Hard for people who travel a long way to find it like this . Those shops that were open would be there for people with a loaded wallet . Expensive shopping .

If you are in the Queenstown area Arrowtown is certainly worth the drive. It is an upscale little village with great shops. When we were there (December 27, 2022) it was busy, but not overwhelming and we easily found parking. The walk through the Chinese village area is lovely with large trees and a great path. There are a mix of shops, from the normal tourist fare to some lovely clothing and general New Zealand products. If you are looking for fine home decor several of the shops had some wonderful items.

As far as dining, we did not eat dinner. We did have have coffee and a sticky bun at Provisions. Provisions, is on the end of town away from the Chinese village and is often overlooked because it is not in the center of businesses. However, it is on the main street and a short walk from the center of town. The sticky buns are amazing and they do serve full meals. We enjoyed watching the barista grind the beans for our coffee while we waited and the care taken in preparing the coffee was evident when we took our first sip. To add to that the owner and staff were very congenial and seemed genuinely interested in our experience.

As a note, we had planed to go to the Chop Shop, which had been recommended to us. It closed at 3:00pm and as we just wanted coffee we arrived at 2:31pm. We were told that they do not take any orders (even for coffee) after 2:30pm. We were disappointed, but were rewarded by a great cup of coffee and a sticky bun at Provisions.

We had a lovely time wandering through Arrowtown village and wandering into the shops. We purchased a number of woollen clothes and bits and pieces - all reasonably priced which was good. After lunch we went down to the Arrow river - beautiful down there

Whenever we visit this area we always head for Arrowtown to check out its quirky feel and take in the ambience of this quaint town. Everyone in the shops and restaurants are friendly and welcoming and the museum, which incorporates an isite and shop is very interesting. The only slight downside is parking however with a little patience and possibly a short walk this is easily overcome.

The first immigrants came to New Zealand and stayed here and made this their home. Very clean village. Lots of shop around the village and food places are awesome. Don’t forget to visit the Remarkable Candy store while you are there.

The whole of ARROWTOWN VILLAGE is an historic & well preserved slice of the gold mining & later farming township that is only too evident with the buildings.
A superb picturesque street of quaint settlers cottages & stores that make Arrowtown a 'must visit'. We believe a more attractive option than Queenstown just 30 minutes or less further away.

If going to a town where busloads of tourists are dropped off to wander one main street with mostly tacky tourist shops, this town is for you. It was nice to see the trees on the nearby mountain changing colors, but that held our interest for about 5 minutes. We stopped here because it was close to the wineries that we were visiting that day. Dinner at La Rumbla was very good and made it worth the stop, but this is not a place I'd recommend to go out of your way to visit. There are many other more authentic places to visit.

Lovely little town; well worth seeing. It's quaint and interesting, especially the museum in town. Give yourself enough time to really enjoy the wonderful displays they have. It's a very informative museum! While you are in Arrowtown, take a side trip to Gibbston winery. There's a tasting bar and while they had their restaurant closed, they did have a mobile pizza van that served excellent pizzas in a fire oven; delicious!
