This is a fabulous museum for a town of its size. It mostly covers the early days of the town. Not much on the Maori.

This place is amazing! Multi levels, historic installations replicating a village street, businesses, houses. So much memorabilia, photos, information. We didn't have long enough to cover it all comprehensively and were disappointed. Great gift shop as well.

Thank you! The most common feedback we receive is that the museum is so much bigger than it looks from the street. Hopefully you can visit again one day and spend longer with us. J
