Top Didj & Art Gallery offers a genuine Aboriginal Cultural Experience....

Top Didj & Art Gallery offers a genuine Aboriginal Cultural Experience. Manual Pamkal, winner of the Tourism NT Brolga award in 2013, for outstanding interpretive guide, is happy to pass on his traditions from Aboriginal contemporary life after playing a traditional welcoming tune on the didgeridoo. Manual will teach you the fine art of Rarrk Painting and give you the chance to paint your own masterpiece using a special brush made from a reed called Julk. This fantastic 2 1/2 hour interpretive experience will provide many hands on activities such as:

Learning about indigenous culture and art

Paint a piece of Indigenous artwork

Learn fire lighting skills

Learning how to throw a spear using a woomera

Get to hold or feed baby wallabies

View and purchase some of the best Aboriginal art and didgeridoos in the Northern Territory

Whilst trying to be very culturally sensitive, we have had some, but not many positive experiences of the indigenous community in Northern Australia. However, this time we spent with Manuel was definitely a very positive experience. Manuel is proud of his cultural history and is very keen to pass on his knowledge. He has strong and sensible ideas on how... More

Yes Manuel is very proud of his culture and loves sharing it with the people he meets. He also realises that things have to be done differently than how they have been done in the past. You have made him feel very happy. More

We visited as part of a tour group on the 9th of August. What a great experience! We really appreciated Manuel sharing his stories and music. He was very patient with our (very poor) painting, fire making and spear throwing skills. Most importantly we gained a much better understanding of indigenous culture and history and we are very grateful to be... What an unexpected treat coming here. Thoroughly enjoyed hearing Manuel's stories, his music, his painting class, cuddling joeys and the spear throwing. Great for teenagers. Not to be missed!

Spent the morning learning how to paint like an Aboriginal. Listen to Aboriginal stories, how to make fire with 2 sticks, throw a spear. Interesting & nice relaxing time

We really enjoyed this experience. We were engaged by Manuel's storytelling about his childhood and current lifestyle. Our 3 children aged 14, 12 and 5 all enjoyed painting their own traditional aboriginal artworks that looked fantastic. Hosts Petrena and Alex were also lovely. A welcoming song, didgeridoo playing, fire lighting, spear throwing (and throwing a boomerang we purchased), did give... More

We visited here on recommendation and it is such an amazing experience to spend time with the staff, especially Manuel, who shared not only his stories about Indigenous culture, but also taught us how to 'X ray' paint, throw a boomerang and light a fire using 2 sticks. This is a must see and do, and a memorable experience.

A wonderful time learning about Manuel and his life growing up in the bush. It seems he still manages to use some of the skills he learned as a child - going out in the bush hunting. His art is wonderful. Watching him light fire from 2 sticks was intriguing. The gallery has some great art. When there a 2... More

We had a great experience, learning about Manuel's culture and about his life. We enjoyed learning the basics on how to paint traditional aboriginal artworks and we even had a go at spear throwing and fire starting. Manuel was a great storyteller and tour guide and he was brilliant at playing the digeridoo. We couldn't believe the quality of the... More
