We did the whole walk around, about 2.5 kms, which was great, but the most interesting viewing is between the various car parking spots just off the road. Plenty of bird life and water lillies.

Anbangbang Billabong was closed due to flooding when we arrived there in December. Decided to take the short walk (250 m) to Nawurlandja Lookout which started in the same parking area. Glad we did it. A bit of a hike but not difficult. What a breathtaking view! Nourlangie Rocks and sweeping lush forest surrounding Anbangbang Billabong with mountain in the... More

Not much to do here, the walk was okay but probably a bit too dry to see any animals apart from magpie geese. Still okay to do but there are better ways to see the wetlands.

Recommend wearing inspect repellent before embarking on walk that took approx. 1 hour at leisure pace. Flat ground and easy to walk.

As soon as we p stopped we were treated to seeing a crocodile only a short distance away ( about 50 meters), he had his eyes on a few birds. There were many lovely spots where you could stop to view the billabong. Even tables and chairs under shady trees to enjoy your lunch. There is a walk path around... More

While we didn't walk the walk due to the relentless heat and that we had just done the awesome Ranger Guided Tour of nearby Nourlangie Rock we did stop and sit by the billabong under a shady tree. They write truly wonderful things of all forms from the inspiration of such a setting. We did not see any crocs as... More

Definitely worth doing this tour. The ranger was very knowledgable. The sunset was spectacular and the billabong was stunningly beautiful. I was appreciative of the ranger showing sensitivity and respect to the aboriginal people and their beliefs. We could learn a lot from them.

Very pretty spot that is worth a stop when visiting Nourlangie. If travelling in June check with Info Centre if the walk around the Billabong is open all the way. We found it to be closed about half way around, which was a bit disappointing. The walk the was open was flat and easy. Lots of bird life and water... More

This is an easy walk on level ground right around perimeter of a water lilly covered billabong with bird life and a wonderful rocky mountain backdrop
