Another place I wouldn't have known about until a friend recommended it. Worth the drive to the top to see the views, absolutely beautiful & peaceful.

We were driving around whilst on leave & read about this destination so decided to stop & view. Very restful lookout & certainly worth stopping with your camera.

I would definitely recommend a visit to Te Mata Peak. Drive along a well-maintained road to lead to breathtaking panoramic views. Like with all outdoor activities, you want the weather to be clear to really appreciate the beauty. Also the time of day should also...More

This is a lookout point! 360' views of the countryside, valleys and city below with view of the shoreline all the way back to Napier. We arrived by cruise ship and it is best to get on a tour early to get up the mountain...More

Tiki-touring around your own backyard is a pleasant outing. The Autumn colours on the trees are beautiful and the weather perfect so a little jaunt up Te Mata peak was ideal. The road is very good if somewhat narrow the higher you drive, there are...More

Well worth the long windy drive up the mountain. The views are breathtaking. Morning would be better as the sun is in your eyes in the afternoon overlooking the city. A few little tracks to walk up and around the peak.

A great asset for locals with many walking tracks used for exercise, training, walking dogs etc., Mountain bike tracks being extended. On a clear day you get a scenic view from the top of the winding road, sealed, well past Napier to Mahia & west...More

The drive up the Te Mata peak was certainly worth it. The 360-degree view at the top was spectacular and very beautiful with wonderfully green rolling hills and pastures all round. For most people who prefer the comfort of the car, the drive was reasonably...More

On a great day the views were amazing but also a popular choice on a busy weekend like Easter. Too busy for my taste or easy parking.

You can drive right to the top if you like, plenty of car parking at the top. The road to the top is quite narrow and windy however, so take care. However if you do wish you can walk to the top. Wouldn't take long for... More
