What amazing views you get from the vantage point at the top of Te Mata Peak. It is well worth the drive up the narrow road. On a clear day you can see for miles. There are many walking tracks in the area.

Te Mata park offers trails for most types of walkers, runners, or mountain bikers. We opted for one of the 'easier' walks which offered a bit of everything between forests, bush, and views. Since we didn't walk to the summit, we simply drove there after our walk. Stunning.

Wonderful spot. Beautiful view. Usually quite chilly so dress warm in the winter. Great walks to see also. Highly recommend

We had family from the UK visit so all got together and visited The Peak plus a couple of the walks It was an absolutely beautiful clear day and managed to get some wonderful family pics whilst there. We are so blest with amazing views I would certainly recommend all to visit here

We had the pleasure of two visits to this attraction, once at night and the other by day. Both provided fantastic views from very clear vantage points. The nighttime view was during an Odyssey wine tour which in itself really added to the experience. Highly recommend this attraction.

It is a visit not to be missed. And all the more at the convenience of the road that allows one to reach the very peak just sitting behind the wheel. The view is exhilarating and 360 degree. The entire Hawke's Bay; the vine yards; the farms, the undulating slopes; Cape Kidnappers; the distant Mahia Pennisula; the winding roads that... More

I walked the red route clockwise to the peak, it was a great walk although on uneven surfaces but it was fun and got some great pictures from the views you don't see when driving up the road!

We drove to the Te Mata Peak at around 15:30. As it was going to sunset, the view was quite interesting. We can see the shadow of hills. And the town view was also great.

lots of walks to choose from with a map of them at the main carpark and along some walks. if you drive up to the top I would say confident drivers would be the best as it is a narrow steep road.

Drive up to the top of Te Mata Peak on a clear day. When it is raining, the visibility is severely limited. Nevertheless, it is an exciting switchback ride with glimpses of the final view along the way. It is steep and there is also a walking track that takes you up to the peak, not for the faint-hearted, although... More
