Any trip to the hawkes bay must include a visit to admire the views from te mata peak! On this occasion some if us took mountain bikes for a quick ride back to our accommodation via the excellent surrounding cycle tracks

This is a must go place in Hasting even if you had only a couple of hours. We drove up to the halfway mark and was so mesmerised by the view that we decided to hike up. Do be careful as certain part of hike can be steep..the top offer unblocked 360° views of whole areas..you may drive up to... More

We loved the mesmerizing 360 degrees views out on the top of the Te Mata Peak. Best place to take one of your best photos. Drive to the top, unless you love hiking.

We go to Te Mata each time - never tire of it. Its quite a hair raising drive up but the views make up for it

The view from here and the drive up to here are thrilling. On a real clear day you'll see for miles. Quite a lot of parking but can get very windy and there's steep drops, so beware.

It is worth to reach the summit, amazing views 360 degree to the land below, either by walking (as physical exercises) or just use the car to reach the summit, be careful when driving because of (some) narrow one lane winding roads to the summit, or simply park your car at the mid high level car park and then continue... We visited the peak prior to lunch in a nearby restaurant at Craggy Range (which you can see from the peak). The road up is narrow and winds up the peak - so be patient. The views from the peak are spectacular. It is not far from either Hastings North or Napier, and if you are in the area, this... More
