We visited Te Mata Peak on a sunny midwinter day. The views were spectacular in all directions. For those keen on walking there are trails of various lengths. The best view of Hawke's Bay you can get.

The peak is a short drive up, offering lovely views of the coast/napier. A short drive from Hastings/Napier. Should go up if you have a car and visiting the area.

Depends on whether you're carrying a lot of equipment or have younger kids. I'd say to allow 30 minutes if so. Maybe a bit more if you have some among you sort of side-tracking off the trail from time to time - I would... More

You can drive right to the top if you like, plenty of car parking at the top. The road to the top is quite narrow and windy however, so take care. However if you do wish you can walk to the top. Wouldn't take long for... More
