For a simply stunning typical (though what is typical when we have everything) New Zealand view, don't miss out on the beauty of this lovely place. And, it's free! Try to choose a day that is clear and not too windy. You will be impressed.

Our tour bus took us up on a beautiful sunny day as a part of an excursion, and we were super excited when we learned we'd be climbing to the top of this amazing peak in the distance from Napier and Havelock North. It took a lot of very careful driving for us to finally reach the summit and pile... More

We rode the peak, some up trails and road and then the goat track down. It was pretty cool, great views. The downhill section was sketchy in places and an Enduro or DH bike would be best.

Can see the mountains to the west, the sea on the east, orchards and vineyards below - got to be up there to really see it. Excellent views up at the 'summit'. Suitable for both the athlete or ones who prefer the automobile. A well sealed, narrow road to the summit allows for everyone to share the experience. It can... More

Chasing the sun set up to te mata peak. Perfect place to catch a breath after a cycle up, walk up, or even drive up to enjoy the 360 birds eye views of hawkes bay

Been to the peak a few times now and don't think you could ever get board with the place. If you can try walking up rather than driving to the carpark at the top. The walk seems to make the 360 degree views look even more majestic. Obviously a clear day helps however even on a not so perfect day... More

Drive carefully up this mountain. There is some parking areas and viewing places on your way to the top. The views are amazing from the top of Te Mata Peak.

A lovely drive up to the Peak. There wasnt a cloud in the sky, and the view was stunning. Amazing to be able to see the 3 mountains at Turangi. Sea view was clear. Really shows the shape of Hawke Bay. From orchards to urban through to rural and mountainous country, Hawkes Bay is one true magical place. A fantastic... More
