There are lots of recreated pioneer villages throughout NZ, but this is one of the better ones I've seen. The story of early colonial Nelson is well told through exhibits and written material. It was pretty quiet the day we visited, so we enjoyed taking our time over two hours to enjoy the lovely gardens, have a coffee and explore the village

Didn’t even realise this place existed, after many past visits to Nelson. It’s like someone created a heritage town by bringing lots of old buildings together. But it is in fact a working town - the printers does in fact print wedding invitations etc. the sailmaker actually makes sails. A great little spot, and surprisingly cheap for the huge amount you get to see.

Most of the areas are wheelchair accessible without too much extra effort. Informative and interesting. The young lady at the front desk is a great asset to the facility as she was genuinely friendly and helpful - well done. Good variety. $10 entry fee, if not a local - money well spent.
