Dreadful weather here today and I assume there was less stalls than usual at this market. But we still enjoyed our visit, lots of reasonable to excellent quality stalls; mostly food and fresh produce and some interesting craft stalls. And the stall holders remained cheery...More

As mentioned great for local food and produce, such as flowers and vegetables. I was salivating as walked round, smelling the aromas of the food. Also there was locally produced chocolate, honey. There various textiles including cushions covers, tea towels etc. Little stalls selling jewellery...More

We were lead to believe the Nelson Saturday market was good for arts and craft. We found it good for food though there was some art and craft. Held in a car park, it just lacked atmosphere even though it was busy.

Market was a bit of a let down. Lacking a little. Expected more local crafts and art, clothing such as t-shirts, that kind of thing. Things for the traveller to take home. Found some really nice cushion covers though.

Kitty , I understand how you feel about cigarette smoke , it does smell and is nasty to look at however , the great billows you speak of could be from a VAPE machine which contains no smoke , just vapour and burns non toxic oils which can some times smell nicer than the attitude of some customers who go craft markets to complain. I gather you haven't seen a vape machine , its to help people stop smoking so support her !
