Just got back from a five day hike on the Heaphy Track. What a wonderful walk, this trip has it all, easy mountain ascents, stunning views, great huts, glorious high alpine downs and spectacular beaches. Our guides were knowledgeable and a whole lot of fun and the food lived up to its “gourmet” name. Can’t believe we ate prawns, fresh salmon, venison and slow cooked lamb while hiking in remote country. Loads of salad and vegetables too. Such an enjoyable walk and I would highly recommend doing it with Southern Wilderness Adventures.

Our family from Australia did the 5 day trek with Angus and Nicole. We had a fantastic time and the guides looked after us every step of the way. Amazing foods, great scenery and lots of wildlife - including a daytime encounter with a Great Spotted Kiwi. Highly recommended - we are already planning to come back and do another trip with Southern Wilderness.

5 day gourmet trek on the Heaphy Track. Most amazing scenery, superb flora and bird life. Saw the takahe, weka, tui, robin, rifleman etc. Ventured into a cave and saw the large cave weta. The guides, Elliot and Olivier could not have been nicer and more helpful. The food they prepared was generous and amazing. The huts are well maintained, with good toilet facilities. Really nice group of fellow hikers. Well done Elliot and Olivier.

Went with Heaphy guided option as was going solo this trip. So much better than expected. Guides - Elliot and Ollie - were knowledgeable, friendly and great cooks. Food included dishes like fried salmon and asparagus. Also great organisation and easy transport etc. highly recommend.

Superb from start to finish - stunning scenery throughout this amazing walk. We did this as ‘Five day guided gourmet walk’ and weren’t disappointed in the slightest. Angus provided all our meals and to an incredibly high standard in each of the huts and they were truly gourmet. He was an informative and knowledgeable guide and this enhanced our experience enormously. Thank you Angus for such a memorable walk - much appreciated by us both. Wal & Heather
