If you're at all interested in theatre, this is a must-see anywhere in the world: a theatre built last century (or before?) which the local Council spent $50M upgrading the backstage technical stuff, seating in the auditorium, building new dressing rooms and green room, while retaining the historical look and feel of the place. Fascinating! Staff were happy to guide... More

This prestigious Opera house is a Gem for Oamaru. Beautifully maintained and presented. It is always a joy for me to attend some of the many shows and events on offer.

There's always something to do and see at the Oamaru Opera House! Even when you do not want to pay for something, you can enjoy the views of the beautiful lights that light up the Opera House every night. I am proud to have this beautiful attraction in my town and believe it is of a great value.

I stopped in Oamaru as I was feeling tired. I think I said, "Oh my God" 100 times. Stunning old buildings and old time shops. It was just beautiful. I was heading back out when I saw the opera house. Had to stop again. 46 photos later !! Oamaru is a must see.

The staff were really friendly, welcoming and informative. It's a lovely old venue that has... More
