I went to the cinema two times during my stay in Kaikoura. I really liked the film selection, pretty much up to date. Normally priced cinema tickets (15 dollars, or on cincema day 12 dollars) It's small but really cosy. I really liked the whole flair of it.

This was a delightful find along the seafront road toward the southern end of town. It has a good-sized screen, the seats are pretty comfortable and the pre-film commercials were mercifully short. Entrance fees and ice cream prices were very reasonable. This institution deserves the support of locals and visitors alike.

Good selection of films, and clear preview by enthusiastic staff. A great way to spend a windy evening in Kaikoura

We noted the box office was open on our way to dinner and stopped and asked to look around. We had seen the film showing but were welcomed to take a look inside. Wished we could go back and see a film.

Fabulous setting and modern facilities. Must do and see. Full of history too. Best of both under one roof.

I had an evening to burn some time so went to the Mayfair Theatre. I noticed that the films being played were fairly new releases, which I was pleasantly surprised by. Tickets were reasonably priced, the theatre was very neat and clean, the seats were good with plenty of space and the picture quality was superb. Note for travelers -... More

This is a great local historic theatre showing three films a day. And its cheaper than a contemporary cinema. They have a modern digital projector so can show the latest films. Also, they have an actual silver screen, so 3D films look great on it. And they have the old projector on display. If you're in Kaikoura its definitely worth... More

We needed to pass some time in Kaikoura on a wet day, it was great to see a film here. Lots of legroom. A super little community cinema, long may it continue!
