We decided to skip the bikes and run the trail. Despite the sore legs and blisters we had a great time running the length of the trail. Parts of it are spectacular. Being a cycle trail it’s an easy run (although by the end any incline felt like a massive hill). My favourite

Gosh, that is a huge run to do! We get lots of people running sections but very few would run the full trail. I am not sure if you are the first? Thank you for you review. We are glad you enjoyed it. We do have the South Island Ultra Marathon on the trail on 8th May 2021. Perhaps you might like to enter. Details are on the events tab on our website.

We rode the Wilderness trail from Kumara to Ross, missing the bit from Greymouth as we'd done that several times before. We were supposed to ride it in April but lockdown prevented us taking our holiday .... we noted that it rained the entire week we would have been riding so

After checking the Wilderness trail map we selected 4 spots that interested us. We had transport which made getting up to the gorge easier. The Hokitika gorge walk, the Canoe cove Rimu Forrest and the Kahukatea Forrest were all well worth the visit. The Dorothy falls were ok and

Thank you for your review. Yes there are stunning forests on the trail. The Hokitika Gorge and Dorothy falls are not on the trail but well worth a visit.

Eight over 60 cycled from Greymouth to Ross over 4 days. We thought this was a easier way to cycle the trail less up hill. The track has varying sized stone and road. We hired awesome bikes perfect for the trail from Colls Sports World Greymouth. We all wanted to take the cycles

Thank you for your review and feedback. The trail is ideal for riders over 60 and it is currently our biggest age demographic. It takes in so many wonderful vistas from the sea, bush, rivers, lakes to riding under the alps and back to the sea. We look forward to you riding it again some time.

We had stunning weather for this 70km day ride from Kumara to Hokitika. The track is in great condition (although it's on road for a couple of sections), was perfect for our skill level (easy!) and took us through some stunning scenery - the Kaniere water race is gorgeous.

Hi Amy, Thank you for your review. This section is a real highlight of the trail. Hopefully you will get the opportunity to return and ride some of the other sections as most of the trail is fantastic with different vistas along the way.
